What an incredible evening at Feast Down East’s second Annual Oyster Roast Fundraiser! 🦪✨

From the warm glow of the heaters to the steady shucking of fresh oysters, the night was filled with great food, great company, and an even greater purpose. Friends and neighbors gathered at FDE’s Food Hub to enjoy local oysters, good drinks, and lively conversation—all while supporting Feast Down East’s mission to strengthen our local food system.

The energy in the room was unforgettable, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together to support local farmers and food access in our community. Huge thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who attended, making the evening such a success. This event truly showed what’s possible when community, food, and purpose come together.

On November 8th, I had the honor not only to provide but also to attend a fantastic event in Durham, NC! As we enter this area of hosting, I love to see how others show up for our community in their own way! Impressed is an understatement! There was dancing, hot meals, fresh produce, clothing, takeaways & even fresh water for individuals that didn't have access to take a shower!
I had to know who was behind this event, . I am so proud of the way you all worked and came together as one to provide for individuals in Durham County!

Footprints takes on Eugene Oregano!

Our short film (Harvesting Hope) was nominated for the Eugene Environmental Film Festival. During our time in Eugene, we explored many beautiful scenes, marched for what we believe in, made lifelong friends, created memories, and ate everything that looked good. Oh, and we attended a fire show 🤷🏽‍♀️ — not sure how we ended up there.

Home to the University of Oregon, you’ll find a strong focus on environmentalism and local sustainability—plenty of farmers’ markets and organic food co-ops. Eugene sits where the Willamette and McKenzie Rivers meet, surrounded by forested hills. It’s about an hour from both the Oregon Coast and the Cascade Mountains, making it ideal for hikers, cyclists, and anyone who loves nature.

PS: Oregon’s tap water is among the cleanest and safest in the country, especially in cities like Eugene, Portland, and Bend.

Oh, and have you heard of a Quince?

The garden’s buzzing with life! 🐝 Marigolds aren’t just a splash of color — they’re pollinator magnets and gift us seeds for next season’s blooms.

Saving Marigold Seeds:
• Let a few flowers dry completely on the plant until they turn brown and papery.
• Gently pull off the dried head and open it — inside, you’ll find slender black-and-white seeds.
• Store them in a cool, dry place for next spring’s planting!

We had the honor of hosting NC’s finest, ( )Vivian Howard and her team, at the farm to film doing a demonstration on peas and cranberry beans. As a young child, I remember watching Vivian mold what she has become today, and it is truly amazing to see her in action. She never forgets her roots and brings those traditions, meals, and southern culture cuisine to the big screen. If nobody has told you thank you, let me be the first!

Be on the lookout for the show, the chef and the Farmer on November 17 on PBS

Western North Carolina is the mountainous region of North Carolina, home to the highest peaks in the Eastern U.S., including Mount Mitchell. The region is known for its natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and vibrant towns like Asheville. It offers attractions such as the Appalachian Trail, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and a thriving craft beer scene. As we know, WNC is recovering from Hurricane Helene. If you have the opportunity, take the time to support this side of the state.

We had the opportunity to visit five agratorium spots; each was as beautiful as the next!

• Looking Glass Creamery
• The Nix Pumpkin Patch
• Stepp’s Hillcrest Orchard
• Burntshirt Vineyard
• McConnell Farms

P.S I would like a horse & a few more apple trees now 👀

Lemongrass is a tender perennial grass in the genus Cymbopogon, known for its distinct lemon scent and flavor, used in cooking, teas, and traditional medicine. It forms an upright clump of arching, strap-like leaves and is cultivated for its aromatic stalks and leaves, which are rich in essential oils. The plant thrives in warm, sunny conditions.

Even our animals are black hehehe

Have you ever seen a fox squirrel?

The fox squirrel is the largest tree squirrel in North Carolina, nearly twice the size of the more common gray squirrel. It lives primarily in mature longleaf pine and open pine-oak forests in the Sandhills and southern Coastal Plain.

Fox squirrels occur in a variety of color phases
Some are almost totally black with dark gray patches; others are reddish or rust-colored.

I can be sure to catch this one every day early in the morning rummaging through the fields.
