🕰️🍬 We found a store that's been open since 1781 — and it's still slinging penny candy!
We've traveled all over New England chasing great bites, but this trip we took a detour into pure history. Say hello to the Old Country Store and Museum in Moultonborough, NH — one of the oldest continuously running stores in the ENTIRE country.
This place has been a stagecoach stop, a post office, a library, and a town meeting hall... and it's now on the National Register of Historic Places. 😲
We had to try the famous barrel pickles (they go through 13,000 a year 🙌), sampled cheddar cheese that ages in the basement for 2.5 YEARS, and let's just say the candy aisle sent us straight back to childhood — wax lips, Turkish taffy, sky bars, fudge by the pound, all of it.
Then we headed upstairs to the museum, packed with antique tools and pieces of local history the owner's dad built by hand. It's basically a time capsule sitting right above the candy counter. 🍭
If you're ever in NH's Lakes Region, this is a MUST stop. Grab a pickle, load up on penny candy, and step into 245 years of history. 🇺🇸
