Big gun rights gains in Louisiana yesterday thanks to Blake Miguez and Jeff Landry! Honored to be invited and proud to have known Blake and his family since he was a kid coming to junior camps on Shootout Lane. Not only is Blake working hard in politics but he’s also a very accomplished competitive shooter. In the picture, you see another native Louisiana boy with a big list of accomplishments… Max Michel
Excited to see what else he has in store for the fi****ms community!

On Tuesday at 10AM, Governor Jeff Landry signed SB1 (Constitutional Carry Legislation) which Blake authored in the recent crime special session. This was a historic day for second amendment supporters in Louisiana. SB1 will give law-abiding citizens 18 years and older the ability to conceal carry a handgun in public. The safeguards like carrying a handgun under the influence, duty to inform officers, restricted places all remain the same as the current law for concealed handgun permits. The concealed handgun permit process will remain in place for those who still want reciprocity with other states.
In addition Blake authored and passed SB2 which the Governor signed. SB2 gives immunity from civil suit to a person who has to use their handgun against a criminal in justifiable self defense. To be eligible for this immunity the person must be a citizen with a concealed handgun permit, police post certified including retired, or active or former honorably discharged military. The reason for this bill was to add protection to the law-abiding and incentivize gun safety training and responsible gun ownership. The person who is claiming this immunity must be acting reasonable and not in the commission of a felony crime.
