Chapel time is integral to our weeks at Camp Mitchell. We couldn't be more blessed to worship and be in community in the Chapel of Transfiguration, overlooking Ada Valley on Mt. Petit Jean.

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love's sake. Amen.

This year, we're bringing together Camp Mitchell's theme, "Growing Together in Faith," and the long-running TV classic Survivor to create a fantastic week for teens focused on community, teamwork, and building meaningful relationships.

Our Senior High staff has planned incredible evening activities, camp-wide scavenger hunts, riddles, and maybe even a tribal council or two, ensuring an exciting and memorable week on the mountain.

Last night, campers jumped right into the action with a fun obstacle course challenge. Teams worked together, encouraged one another, and discovered that overcoming obstacles is a lot easier when you have a community beside you. There was plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and teamwork as campers kicked off the week in true Survivor fashion.

We can't wait to see how our campers continue growing in faith, friendship, and confidence throughout the week!

This week, we lift up Camp Mitchell, Camp Quarterman, Camp Tuttle, Chanco on the James, Claggett Center, ECMN Youth Camp and Episcopal Church Camp of Illinois in our summer camp cycle of prayer 🙏🏕️

Dear God,
Let us revel in summer.
Let us soak up the long days and warm sun.
May our feet walk on sandy beaches and our heads rest on thick grass under blue skies.
May we listen to and marvel at the singing of the birds and stop to watch blissful children at play
This summer, God, may our breathing slow and our hearts open. God help us to be present to all that is so that we might best see all that might be.

Hospitality is one of the ways we share God's love, and Chef Michael lives that out every day. Through countless meals served with care, he helps create a community where campers and guests can gather, connect, and grow. We are deeply thankful for his faithful work, long hours, and generous spirit that nourish both body and soul throughout the summer. Thank you, Michael, for being such an important part of the Camp Mitchell family.

Get to know a little bit more about Chef Michael through his own words:

“Once upon a Time About 40 ft away from where he cooks today, around 40 years ago, where the fruit trees now grow, something happened...

Chef Michael Bosmyer Campbell decided to be born.

After spending the initial week of his life here at Camp Mitchell with the Executive Director Peggy Bosmyer Campbell he realized he was ill prepared to cook for so many people and embarked on a short sabbatical in order to educate himself. Once he had mastered the basics (walking, talking, flipping an egg), he spent a little while in Sewanee Tennessee learning how things react at higher elevations. Realizing there was still something missing from his repertoire he spent 25 years in the restaurant industry and enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America where he learned, amongst many other useful things, the melting point of ice cream. Adequately prepared Chef Michael returned and took his current position as Director of Food Services and Executive Chef.

Our camp counselors have worked hard for the last two weeks to prepare for youth to arrive. A much deserve break was celebrated with ice cream! We can’t wait to welcome everyone tomorrow afternoon.

We are excited to welcome campers to the mountain beginning this Sunday for Senior High Camp and to kick off another wonderful summer at Camp Mitchell!

To help ensure a safe and secure environment for all campers, Camp Mitchell closes its main gates whenever children are on site. Camp Mitchell follows the Episcopal Diocese of Arkansas Safe Church policies and procedures for safeguarding children and youth.

During camp sessions, guests, visitors, and drop-in guests are not permitted on campus. We appreciate your understanding and partnership as we work to provide a safe, fun, and faith-filled experience for every camper.

This summer, we have a dedicated Camp Mitchell cell phone available throughout each camp session. Parents are encouraged to call this number if they need to reach a member of our staff, the Summer Camp Director, or the on-site Camp Host. If needed, we can also help connect parents with their camper.

Check-in for all camp sessions is Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Hoke Lodge, with the exception of Robert R. Brown Camp, which checks in from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that our gates will not open until the designated check-in time begins.

Campers may be picked up on the final day of their session. Families are warmly invited to attend the closing services at 10:00 a.m. Campers will be released to return home at 11:00 a.m.
