Reloading question for y'all.

If I have bad loads, unless it is a batch that I just loaded, I toss the powder that was pulled.

Here's my reasoning. If it is handgun rounds and even if the powder is the same, I typically toss it unless it was freshly made ammo. Lot numbers can be different, age of powder, etc. I treat most rifle ammo the same way UNLESS I am certain of what that powder is and if it is a newer load. Examples include Trail Boss and specific loads I know with 100% certainty what it is and where it came from.

I have loaded 20-50 rounds and realized the scale was off or I read 4.5 as 5.4. Mistakes happen, but if I catch them at that point I will keep the powder and reload with the correct weight.

Other peoples ammo that I have acquired, it all gets pulled.

Listen I hear you, powder is expensive.
Let's do some math, and please correct me if I get this wrong:
1 pound of powder = 7000 grains
9mm 125gr FMJ pushed by CFE Pistol at 5gr
so...
7000/5gr gets you 1400 rounds of ammo per pound of CFE Pistol
Midway has it for $48 a pound, divided by 1400 rounds and you get 3.4 cents per round of powder. That comes to $1.74 a box of loaded ammo in just powder cost. You can't put a cost on safety.

Just my 2 cents...

P.S. - if anyone wants to pre-order one, let us know. I don't judge.

Got a chance to try the new compensator on the 1911 today. Also tested some custom loads and found a really nice, accurate and comfortable to shoot 45ACP round.

For the reloaders out there:
HP38 4.3gr
Speer 230ge LRN
Wi******er large primer

Load data is for info only. If you use it, use it at your own risk. Check your reloading manual before trying this.

Ran this same load with 3.7gr of HP38 and the accuracy wasn't as good as the higher load. That little extra push tightened up the group a lot.
