🌟Serging 101 🌟
This course covers the essentials of using a serger (overlocker) to create professional, stretchy, and durable seams. Key skills include mastering thread, adjusting tension and differential feed to prevent puckering, and managing the built-in knife for trimming. Essential techniques involve mastering 3-thread, 4-thread, and rolled hem stitches for various fabrics.

Cost: $ 75.00

Grab your serger and head to class. In addition to the machine, please bring the following:

✅ power cord
✅ user manual (online version is fine)
✅ extra needles - you may need to order these ahead of class. Refer to your manual to figure out the proper size. We only carry the ELX-705 size needles at the store

👍🏻 Thread is provided as part of class. We will use different colors as we experiment with different stitch types and various styles of fabrics.

Get out of the heat and enjoy some time sewing with friends. During the open sew session, you can bring your PHDs (projects half done) or get expert advice on that project that has you stumped.There are two options for sign up - one for machine sewing (10:00am or 5:00pm) and one for hand sewing (10:15am or 5:15pm). Lunch/Dinner will be provided.

The 11th of every month we have an opportunity to give back!
FREE ! Open Sew. We will continue to celebrate our veterans with a monthly event to complete as many quilts as possible to support the amazing WV QOV organization. All fabrics and machines are provided for this event. ALL skill levels welcome. The kits have been donated by the WV QOV organization, and most are precut and ready to sew. Even if you can't stay all day, stop by and lend a hand with pressing for as long as you're able to help.

June 9th 9-11 am

Let's learn to sew and make a fun quilted pillow. During this class, kids will learn how to select fabrics, how to sew a 4 patch quilt block, how to quilt the block with a sewing machine, and how to create a pillow with an envelope style closure. All fabrics and materials, including the pillow form, are included with the class registrations. Machines and sewing notions will be provided for each student. Recommended ages are 8-13.

Learn to Sew! Bring that machine you haven’t touched and let’s get at it!

Sessions start June 8th!
This class is for you if:
* You have never seen or touched a sewing machine but want to learn more, or
* You have attempted to sew but have never quite gotten the hang of it, or
* You have a machine and used to sew but have forgotten how to thread the needle and wind a bobbin, or
* You have been sewing for years, but you want to explore different techniques and stitches

Class 1: How to thread your machine, Review the different stitches, Make a stitch sample
Class 2: Best tools and notions, Work with different fabrics, All about seam allowances, Practice different hemming techniques
Class 3: Learn about zippers and create a fun, practical project

Bring your machine (including all accessories and instruction manual) or rent one at the store.

Required Materials:

Sewing machine with all accessories and user manual*
Sewing notions (scissors, thread, pins/clips, seam ripper)

*Store machines are available if you do not have one
