Hi everyone. I know it's been a while since we've posted anything relevant. This past year I have had many setbacks. I lost my home to the town of Beaufort because they wanted to extend the sea wall to include the Beaufort Town Docks, and it wasn't for sale, so they acquired it in an unscrupulous manner. I've had a lot of family deaths in a very short time. A lot has happened, and I'm doing my best to keep up, so please bear with me. I am not telling you this for sympathy. I am because we normally post a lot more and all of our projects have been rolling along in a timely matter, until now. I do things every day to make sure we are moving forward to get the lighthouse fixed. Unfortunately, the Park Service is more interested in renovating the houses in the village and renting them out, rather than focusing on the lighthouse itself. It's a very hard thing to know. And you wouldn't know if we hadn't told you, so now you do. Many people don't understand this, as the lighthouse should be a priority, not the small houses in the village that were taken away from heir rightful owners and left to fall down. This is infuriating to say the least. There are some people with deep pockets who are leasing the houses as their own second homes, and that's not going to sit well with the people who lost theirs years ago to begin with. There is a lot of animosity still towards the park service, and we can't help that. We can only share what we know, and now it's time to tell you that we didn't work this hard for the last 3 years for the lighthouse to be second in line to be worked on. Our Diamond Lady deserves the respect she has earned, so here we go. If anyone would like to donate to help us continue, please do so. We need sponsors, too. That is a total tax write-off. Any money donated is a TOTAL tax write-off. Would you rather the government get it or see our girl shine her light again? That aviation light they have up there is definitly not helping, since it is reaching out 1.5 miles. Please join us. We need your help, love, and support. I am including a really cool picture of the lighthouse from the early 1900s. I hope you enjoy it. It's from Beaufort Drug Co. and was a black and white, and they colored it in with chalks before color photos were around. Great find at Skinny Fish Consignments!!
