🎹 Teacher Spotlight: Maria Tirone 🎶

Precedence Music Academy is proud to feature Maria Tirone, a passionate piano teacher who has been teaching in Montrose since 2014. With over 36 students ranging in age from 5 to 76, Maria brings energy and dedication to every lesson, focusing on theory, ear training, sight-reading, technique, artistry, composition, and improvisation.

Maria began playing piano at age 7 and was performing in competitions by age 10. At just 13, she was honored as a guest soloist with the Denver Metropolitan Orchestra. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s in Piano Performance from Metropolitan State University in Denver with a full-ride talent scholarship.

Her professional career spans over 40 years in the music industry, performing around the world in countries such as Chile, Croatia, South Africa, Egypt, Mexico, and France. She has also performed in iconic venues like the Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills, the MGM Grand, and the Venetian in Las Vegas. Maria also completed a USO tour as a lead vocalist, traveling to Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Australia, and Hawaii.

In addition to teaching and performing, Maria is a songwriter who has recorded several original CDs, writing both her own lyrics and music.

🎶 Teacher Spotlight: Martha Ditto 🎶

Precedence Music Academy is proud to feature Martha Ditto, a dedicated cellist and mentor with over 40 years of experience in the music industry. Originally from the Nashville, Tennessee area, Martha moved to Colorado in 2014 and quickly became an active part of the local music community.

🎻 Shortly after arriving, she joined the Valley Symphony Orchestra and was invited to mentor with the Valley Youth Orchestra, where she has continued to inspire young musicians ever since. As a committed member of the VYO Board since 2015, Martha helps shape the future of music education in the region.

🌟 At Precedence, Martha currently teaches 12 cello students, sharing her expertise and passion for the instrument. In addition, she and fellow Precedence violin instructor Leigh Mahoney co-founded The Mesa Strings, a collaborative ensemble that continues to grow and hopes to include more of the talented women string instructors at Precedence in the future.
