To all the customers of REM Electric over the years, I extend a huge thank you and to my family who have supported me in this venture from the beginning. I must also give thanks to all my current and past employees, suppliers, sub-contractors, lenders, and advisors. I could never have done this without them. Unfortunately, due to circumstances that have plagued my industry for years and only accelerated due to the impacts the COVID mess has caused, I have made the difficult decision to close all aspects of REM Electric permanently. This decision has weighed very heavily on me for a long time, but it is what is best for me and my family into the future.
The REM Electric retail store will remain open for regular sales business until Sunday April 30th, 2023. All in-stock appliance and TV inventory will be discounted for sale until then. If you have anything on order or have placed a down-payment on anything, someone will be contacting you directly to discuss your options. The Appliance and TV service department will not be accepting any new service calls after Friday April, 14th to ensure we can get everything completed. All Electrical contracting work currently in process will be completed ASAP. Unfortunately, any work that has not been started yet will not be able to be performed by REM Electric. If you are on our pending list, I will be contacting you shortly to discuss your options.
I ask for everyone’s understanding as we work through this process. Please settle any outstanding accounts you may have with us because any outstanding balances will go to collections as part of this process if not paid on time. It’s not personal, it’s simply how it must be done. After the store is closed and all final service work is complete, all the remaining inventory, tools, equipment, etc, will be auctioned at a time and location TBD. The store building and adjacent property will be for sale/lease. Please keep an eye out for details.
I will be making an announcement soon regarding our recommendations for your future sales and service needs.
I will greatly miss interacting with all of you. Some of us have formed personal relationships which I’m grateful for. Some of us have worked together on various boards and committees to accomplish some good things for our community. Seeing a business like this shut down after being in operation for 86 years is never what anyone likes to see in a small town. Monticello is very resilient when this happens anywhere within our community. I’m confident something great will fill the void. I have not decided what my next chapter in life will be yet. I will need some time to close out the business and make that decision.
Once again, I thank all of you for everything you’ve done for me.
Sincerely,
Jared Lasley
