Found near the handle of the big dipper, M101 is twice the size of our galaxy, containing one trillion stars and stuffed with stellar nurseries (pink and purple areas). Neighboring galaxies have pulled it into its lopsided shape. I’m happy with this shot but looking forward to nebulae season once again :)

"SH2-275 - The Rosette Nebula

Distance From Earth - 5,200 Light Years
Diameter - 130 Light Years
Total Exposure Time - 20 Hrs

The Rosette Nebula is my all time favorite target. It was the first image I shot and the first that I printed. Since starting, I've upgraded equipment and gotten a lot better at post processing so I went for it again. I absolutely love how it turned out. The way the central star cluster carved out that hollow core is like looking down into a cosmic flower. This one was a blast to process, and I'll be adding even more data in the future.

The Rosette Nebula is a massive HII emission region in the constellation Monoceros, glowing as hydrogen gas is ionized by the intense ultraviolet radiation pouring out of NGC 2244, the young open star cluster at its center. The cluster's hot O-type stars, only a few million years old, have blown out the nebula's distinctive central cavity with their powerful stellar winds. With an electron temperature around 10,000 K, the surrounding gas re-emits that absorbed energy as the deep red hydrogen-alpha light that dominates this image. The Rosette contains enough material to form roughly 10,000 Suns, and star formation is still actively occurring within its dense dust globules today."

Get ready for a meteor shower! ☄️ The Southern delta Aquariids is a major shower, active from around July 18th to August 12th, with its maximum typically occurring on the night of July 30th.

"🐘✨ The Elephant's Trunk Nebula

Here is my first image of the famous Elephant's Trunk Nebula captured in SHO and processed with the Hubble palette with my new monochrome camera.

Located within the IC 1396 region, this massive pillar of gas and dust stretches across several light-years. Shaped by the intense radiation from nearby stars, it is a true stellar nursery where new stars are still being born today.

This image is also a personal milestone: one of my first SHO projects with this new camera. I'm still learning the subtleties of narrowband imaging and processing, but it's incredibly rewarding to reveal these intricate structures and the unique colors hidden within the nebula.

I hope you enjoy this journey into the heart of the cosmic clouds as much as I enjoyed capturing and processing it.
