Friday Night - Rides of March 2026

03/30/2026

Great to see some old friends and do some riding in the Central Coast of California

Rides of March brought in close to 200 vintage scooters from all over the West Coast

On Saturday’s ride, we clocked 115 miles through the farmlands and backcountry

There was great support from many scooter clubs around the U.S.

Here’s a few of our photos of the event

Going back a few years now to 2002 with a photo shoot with Getty Images. I grabbed some mates and we were off to ride Los Angeles with a photographer in the sidecar.

We got great press off of this shoot and all got paid for the day 😎

We recently were hired for a photo shoot, to provide two scooters for a women’s clothing line at Walmart called Celebrity Pink.

It’s been a while since we’ve done something prominent like this. We used to do commercials and film shoots quite often.

We were thrilled to see our scoots in print again and getting good press in the stores. 😎

1964 Vespa GS 160 with a TWIST 🤌🏽

Custom paint and upholstery on this beauty with an electric start PX power plant and electrical.

Cozy sidecar reworked and customized as well

Engine - Malossi 213cc with 23 tooth cosa clutch. Smooth as butter. This is an amazing rig that will do a strong 70mph through the wind 💨 with a little right side pull 🥴 from the weight of the sidecar but still about the smoothest sidecar rig we’ve ever ridden and tuned.

The desert isn’t nice to scooters that sit as the extreme heat dried the slide closed on the carb, and mucked up all the jets. Back on the road for the nice winters months.

Spy out the matching Mercedes SL in the garage 😉 This Gal has style 😎

Don’t mind the mess… just doing a 5 plate clutch upgear on this amazing original paint SS180.
This will add an extra tooth (23) to the factory clutch (22 tooth) making each gear taller.
It’s a tricky conversion, not really plug and play, as sometimes 3 and 4 shims are needed to space things.
Nice and smooth, raised the gearing beautifully.
Now to put some miles on it and see how it performs.

Oh, check out the factory painters initials in the paint just behind the battery tray (Big “D”) You can see this on most GSs and SSs

1971 Vespa Rally 180

Here’s a very respectable Original Paint Rally 180 we are selling for a client. The ever elusive Rally 180s seem to be hard to find these days and are notable, being the last of the script badge Vespas sold in the States.

We recently resurrected this Rally 180, as it had been sitting for 20+ years. We went through all systems and got everything working properly. That included new tires and tubes, fresh battery, some rubber bits around the scoot and a freshen up of all fluids and oil lines. We refreshed and cleaned out the tank and put a new fuel tap as well.

Everything seems to be OEM straight from the factory, even down to every hardware bit. The seat appears to be original and all of the electrical components are original. No upgrades or modifications (except for the rack and leg trim)

We would say the paint is in good original condition for a 55 year-old Vespa. There are a few small holes in the glove box and two small holes near the tail light where it appears something might have been mounted at some point. We have put white rubber plugs in those.

There’s also a small rust area at the hardware point of the front fender. Other than that, everything is very straight and reads very well. Looks like there was a small touch-up to the paint on the battery side cowl. Check out the original blue plate probably original to the scoot.

Scoot rides very strong and has been a daily commuter for the last 3 years.

Currently titled and ready to ride.

$6500 USD

We started collecting original paint scoots in the mid 90s when the trends were definitely heading in a different direction.

Custom paint schemes and even factory color paint restorations were becoming common, but very few appreciated the original paint scoots.

We’ve also saved many partially stripped scooters by repainting the stripped pieces and creating some patina to match the originals.

In many cases, an original paint Vespa or Lambretta is worth more than a restored one.

Here’s a nice line up of OG paint scoots that came through the shop around 2015.

We still have one of them 😎

In order from right to left; GS160 mk2, GS160 mk2, LI150 S2, GS150 VS5, TV175 S3

Another great shop visit in the UK a few months back as we were heading to Cornwall for a little surfing holiday.

We popped into Swiss Tony’s new shop just south of Bristol. As many of you may know, Carlos and his team are taking over the vintage scooter parts world lately.

They were as hospitable as ever. Carlos gave us a quick walk-through and showed us the new operation. We picked up a few vintage pennant aerials they had for sale. Pop in and give them a visit if you’re in the UK as they have every and any NOS Lambretta part you could ever imagine.

They had some very rare scoots to look at, and they have a lot of Scooters moving through their service department.

Digging through old magazines we bumped into this Pasadena magazine featuring our 1964 Lambretta “Candyland” TV 175 in their Spring issue 2013.

It’s always nice to have our work featured in quality zines as sometimes these treasured scoots leave us and move on down the road.

Candyland was a build we started in 2009 after visiting the Lambretta Museum in Weston Super Mare in England and seeing a beautifully decorated TV 175 on display in their showroom.

The scoot reminded us of the board game Candyland as kids. Lots of colorful accessories based off a yellow/white Turismo Veloce 175. A seemingly rare color combo, it inspired us to do one. This was a stripped down version without accessories after a few years of riding.

The custom Pegasus seat was a copy of an original 1960s one we had on another scoot and took the artisan 🧑‍🎨 seat maker 40 hours to duplicate
