I have eight thousand hobbies, but clay is not one of them. I worked with polymer clay a lot when I was a kid, and maybe I'll mess around with clay again one day, but for now, I am definitely not making realistic clay mushrooms for my designs. I really like these from Joy's Clay Flowers; they have a website but I generally purchase them through Etsy. They're adorable, constructed in a way that is sturdy, and they're easy enough to remove from the bundle if I am trying to only use one or two mushrooms. Would recommend for your miniature or woodland-themed decor needs 🍄

It's a beautiful day. I'm not sweating yet, so I am sitting on the front porch for a while before I force myself into work. I love dreary days, but sometimes they give me migraines, so I am happy to see the sun this morning.

Yesterday, my new card reader came in the mail. I am now able to take card payments! The caveat is that I have to upcharge (just a dollar though!), due to the funds transfer fee.

I can still accept PayPal, CashApp, and Venmo, and of course cash. That won't be changing! Just wanted to expand my options for people.

What's inspiring you this week?

For my full-time job, I had a somewhat complicated fieldwork project where we had to dig on the side of really busy local streets. You wouldn't expect to find such productive pollinators in the middle of a median, but here they were! Saw tons of bees (including this adorable bee 🍑), butterflies, spiders and other critters out there. I didn't catch a photo of the magnificent wolf spider I saw out there (she moved FAST), but I saw this gorgeous orb weaver 🕷💚

I haven't done a butterfly piece in a very long time, and I've never done spiders. I think it's time to woodburn more bugs. And oddly enough, even after getting thistles whipped literally in my face (I mean, it's my own clumsy fault), I want to do some thistle-based designs too.

I am thankful that all of my small coffin boxes sold out this summer. However, that means I went a couple of shows without them...

Small coffin boxes are back. I have two more planned, and two others that are somewhat in the planning stage but I need to mull them over a bit more. I tried something new with this one 🦉🌙

My next two event appearances will be:

August 29, 2026 at the Friends Of Companion Animals Feline Rescue & Adoption Center, 12-5 pm, here in Monroe, MI. Tons of amazing artists will be here, and it's an event that benefits the local cat shelter. Come see the artisans and visit with the kittens 😍

September 5, 2026 at the Labor Day Parade and Festival, 2-9 pm, also here in Monroe, MI. There will be music, tons of entertainment, local makers and artists, food trucks, and will overall be an awesome time. Side note: my first and middle names are Julia and Rose, but I am not affiliated with the featured artist, named Julia Rose. Just wanted to straighten that out - we will both be there, but we are not the same person 😅

HUUUGE THANK-YOU to those who came out to see us at Delirium Moon today! It was a great event; the Ethereal Loft is an amazing new space, and Delirium Moon seemed to have a great second birthday celebration. The vibes were good and the people were so kind.

As of today, I have a Square card reader. It was in the works anyway, but after losing a sale because I don't have a physical credit card option, I decided to rip off the band-aid and get one. Like, girl just do it 😅 the reader should be here in a few days. I got a solar power bank to have for charging devices while on my day job...looks like I have another option for keeping the card reader alive and running. Convenient timing 🧐
