There’s a lot of new people here, so I thought I’d reintroduce myself!
I’m Erin, Matt’s Mom and the Nuts behinds Nuts for Birds LLC 😂
My family is my everything! My husband and I have 3 amazing children 25, 9, and 8! I’m a lover of coffee, Christmas, and birds 🐦 I have Celiac Disease and a dairy intolerance causing my own health to have its ups and downs. Add in hormonal changes and I’m currently a hot mess! 😂
I am also a Special Education Teacher entering my 18th year. I know first hand what it’s like to raise a child with Autism and medical needs and be the Mom on the side of the table fighting to get my son the help he needed to thrive and be successful. I’m also the teacher working to help my students gain access to an education system that was not designed for them.
I live all sides of the neurodivergent world and see the inequalities that these beautiful people face. So in an effort to help my son thrive in a world that doesn’t always have the time to understand him, I thought about what we know and what we love.
I have business and sales experience from previous jobs and Network Marketing Companies. I design my own workout apparel and sell in my Etsy shop (I love working out too!) that I have been running for the past 3 1/2 years Erin Cook | Health Coaching and Apparel is my other account 🥰
Matt knows birds! He can identify birds by sound and seeing them. He has had a passion for feeding birds since high school, so I thought. Let’s put our strengths and experience together to help Matt grow a business so that he can live a life that he loves.
We are currently navigating his mental health and autism burnout while I carry the load of the business. Now I’m even more determined to grow our business so it can provide for him long after we are gone. Having an adult with special needs is scary, stressful, frustrating, and hard. It takes a lot of energy from myself along with raising my other children. I have begun accepting help and am no longer running this business alone. I’m the helper and it’s been a tough transition to allow others to help me, but I am in such a better place because of it!
I hope you follow along on our journey and say hi if you see us at an event!
