Stay tuned for when books will be available for pickup in store!
Tyler selected Wicked for book club in celebration of The Project’s 40th anniversary. There is a long history of shared connection between The Wizard of Oz, Judy Garland, and the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, the term “friend of Dorothy” was once used by q***r people as coded language to help identify each other. Plus, he was looking for another reason to listen to the Wicked soundtrack!
About Wicked:
This is the book that started it all! The basis for the smash hit Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, Gregory Maguire's breathtaking New York Times "bestseller Wicked "views the land of Oz, its inhabitants, its Wizard, and the Emerald City, through a darker and greener (not rosier) lens.
About Tyler: Tyler is the Development Director at The Project of the Quad Cities, an organization dedicated to caring for people living with HIV and LGBTQ+ folks. As a proud member of the q***r community, Tyler hopes to make a difference through his work at The Project. He also serves on the Foundation board for the Davenport Public Library and as chair of the WVIK/NPR community advisory board. During his free time, Tyler enjoys hanging out with his cats, Basil & Mothman, listening to audiobooks, and playing video games. He’s also an avid D&D fan!
