The Urban Emporium's mission is to provide an educational and supportive environment for start-up and expanding, early-stage, independent businesses to succeed. The primary focus in the first three years is to nurture retailers in an incubator-type setting that gives them the tools to succeed in under-served retail markets. s responsible for launching the Urban Emporium and funding is provided by: Sybil H. Bedsole Foundation, Alabama Power Company, Ben May Trust and the Hearin-Chandler Foundation.
