“Bloom Where Planted”

All the places that I’ve called home in my lifetime. Being a transplant is not always easy, but I wouldn’t change the story of my life or the strength that those moves built in me over the years. I also developed deep compassion for anyone who is the new person to an area or institution. Each year our school offers the opportunity to serve as a New Family Ambassador, and each year it is one of my favorite volunteer roles.
This year I was invited to provide flowers for the New Parent Coffee which our school hosts each year. I have shared before that I feel most like myself when my work and personal beliefs align, and this was a prime example.

“Bloom Where Planted,” a common saying, was something that came to me while preparing the content for this event. To me, the tree represents the community in which we are placed, regardless of the age or season of life. The flowers in bloom surrounding the tree represent all of us together, blooming wherever planted. This arrangement was so well received, and I have been able to recreate it for others as well.

To those who are not the new person: you are so blessed to have a solid base of operations, so use this blessing to bless others!
Extend a hand. Be inclusive. Get up from your comfortable table at lunchtime and sit next to someone unfamiliar. Embrace the soul who is searching for belonging in their new home or circumstance. Who knows where this kindness might lead? And you will both be better for it. And then one day, you’ll realize that the tables have turned, and YOU are the new person, and you will remember the kindness you showed and be confident that God is sending someone to welcome you into the new place that you have been lead.

…seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers you too will prosper.

Winner winner chicken dinner! Belated post!
I am delighted to make this FUN post to announce that Flower Fête has won its very first award!
I was invited to participate in the recent Boutonnière Design Contest hosted by as part of their annual customer appreciation event this summer.
I instantly had visions of the elegant masterpieces which would be submitted by the talented designers that create beautiful content and events in our area surrounding Mobile, AL. There is SO much talent here!!!
I decided to go an inventive route and design something playful, imaginative and true to my actual season of life. I wanted something that would draw a smile. As a mother of three, I am surrounded by laughter and play much of the time that I am working from my home studio. One of our favorite family game night choices is MONOPOLY! In honor of this season, my children, and the idea that florals can be fun and flippant I give you this year’s “Best Overall” design winner.

These flowers were given in honor of the Alabama-West Florida United Methodist Church Annual Conference which was held in Mobile this year at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church.

So many individuals gave of their time and talents to make this event happen. It was an honor to be among the contributors.

She gave me a color pallet, and then turned me loose! What a dream!!
Kelsey and her family have a really cool story, and I LOVE a small business with a big heart.

Monica and I met at a party we worked on at the very beginning of the year. I’ve been a super fan of her work ever since. Her set ups are an absolute DREAM!!! Beachside, boat or party this gal can make your occasion shine.

On a personal note, I so admire her work ethic!! represents another woman-owned small business that made the choice to help me succeed at the festival this year. I will never forget this support!!

I will be taking of orders for Easter starting this week through the end of March.

Crosses are priced starting at $60, the one shown featuring premium flowers is $75.

I’ll also offer DIY packages for you and your family to decorate your own cross on Easter morning. It will include an unadorned cross fitted with floral foam, and precut florals and greenery. This is a tradition we love at our home. Each year on Easter morning after the excitement of bunnies and baskets and egg hunts, we like to direct attention back to the REAL reason that we are marking the day. This is a nice way to do it. He is RISEN!!

If you are hosting the Easter Sunday meal, let me create a centerpiece for you! I am always happy to work with what you already own! Bring me your containers!

Such a GREAT Sunday night hearing speak to a mother-daughter group in Mobile. Thankful for the generosity of .pauls_episcopal for bringing such a wonderful Mom, Speaker and Writer for all of us to enjoy and learn from.

I will always consider it an honor to be asked to design flowers for an event no matter how big or small. This was extra special as I was able to see friends, spend time with my oldest daughter, and grow my faith alongside other women with similar values.
