This week I had the honor of making Tori a sweet keepsake in memory of Pickles 🥹. She shared these sweet memories with me and gave me permission to post.
"Pickles was my SOUL dog, my best friend, and the greatest gift I could have ever asked for. I got him when I was 17 years old, and I’ve had him for almost half of my life. He was there through every major chapter of my adulthood. He watched me graduate, start my career in veterinary medicine, build my pet sitting business, buy my first home, and become the person I am today. Through every high and every low, Pickles was always there.
He had the sweetest soul. He loved being close to me, whether he was curled up beside me, sleeping in my bed, or following me from room to room. As he got older, he lost his vision and hearing, but none of that ever changed who he was. He adapted with so much courage and still found comfort just being near me.
Working in veterinary medicine, I’ve loved thousands of animals over the years, but Pickles was different. He wasn’t just my dog. He was family. He taught me patience, unconditional love, resilience, and how deep the bond between a person and a dog can truly be.
Losing him has been the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced, but I wouldn’t trade a single second of our nearly 15 years together. If love alone could have kept him here, he would have lived forever. Pickles wasn’t just part of my life. He was a part of who I am, and he always will be."
