A few years ago, our family began buying Christmas presents from companies that were "doing good" in some unique way. We discovered shops doing all sorts of impressive things: some were employing people who had been rescued from the darkness of s*x trafficking, others were offering employment to men and women who had been incarcerated, and others were employing people who had endured homelessness.

There were companies that were selling handmade products from single mothers from war-torn countries, and still others that were making an impact by donating to ministries that were near and dear to their hearts. Before we knew it, we found that we could buy just about anything from companies that were committed to bringing both dignity and hope to the work place. As our list grew, so did our understanding of the need for companies like this. We personally experienced the ripple effects of their existence, as our purchases connected us to their mission. We wanted to share this experience with others, so when we had an opportunity to open a shop in downtown Mobile, we knew what we wanted to do: We wanted to stock our shelves with items from companies that were bridging the gap between compassion and commerce, and we wanted people to experience the joy of making a purchase while also making a difference. At Do Goods, we are committed to carrying "goods" that do good, and on top of the various ministries that will be represented in our inventory, we also will be donating a percentage of our profits to a local non-profit, Metro Ministries, which is a ministry bringing Gospel Hope and relationship to the inner city here in Mobile. We are so excited to be a part of Mobile's downtown community, and hope that you'll stop in to see us soon!
