If you know me, you know I have had a long relationship with Jane Eyre. I've loved it, I've been inspired by it, I've been mad at it, I've visited the place where it was written...

And during my last read, I started to get a new feeling about it. Is Jane Eyre... Q***r?
I recently made my book club read it thru this lens, and for our discussion I made a slide show about it (yes, I am that nerd). Now, for Pride month, you have the chance to experience this talk as well.

You'll learn ever so much about JE, The Brontes, nascent feminism, Yorkshire le****ns, moon goddesses, and attic wives.

It's a spoiler-filled romp through the ur-text of Victorian Gothic literature, and at the end, maybe you'll find out why a q***r like me still carries a torch for Timothy Dalton (the only Mr. Rochester for me). I hope you'll join me! πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

You guys... THESE GUYS πŸ‘€

This will be my fourth or fifth bindery move, and it is never easy. The old cast iron bookbinding equipment is deceptively heavy and awkward to move, but persevered under adverse situations (old building, finicky elevator, pouring rain) and got my babies to their new home here in on the second floor of The Warehouse Mall. I can't thank them enough for their work!

Also, thanks to Whitney and John Rimel for the very cool (and also cast iron) theatre seats from the Wilma. I'm just collecting all of the pieces of Missoula's historic buildings in my little shop. πŸ˜„

In the final days of this sweet little nook that I've enjoyed for the past 2 years. If you want to have a last peek at the cozy book cave before it moves down the hall to the new space, today and next Thursday and Friday will be your last opportunity. Then, I'm handing the keys over to to work his transformational magic!

One of the cooler things I've ever had the honor of working with. This limited run copy of Charles Bukowski's _It Catches My Heart in its Hands_ was hand printed by Loujon Press in the French Quarter of New Orleans back in 1963. The inscription by Bukowski himself, offers some of the man's opinions on art...
Because of the fragility of this book, it was important to get it into some kind of sturdy enclosure that could protect the paper from getting creased or torn.
I used 2 kinds of Asahi bookcloth, and a hand marbled paper for the interior. It's always fun to work with a client to design these clamshell boxes, and I hope it becomes a treasured item on his bookshelf.
If you have a special book that could benefit from some extra protection, get in touch and we can design something together, too!
