Special story time this Sunday, June 7th at 2 PM to support the Minnesota Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness! These beautiful and sacred lands are now at great risk of being mined, polluted, and destroyed, and we do not want that to happen!

We have author MARY CASANOVA coming, along with the Friends of the Boundary Waters to read us her newest picture book, ‘Northwood’s Lullaby’. We love a Minnesota northwoods summer vibe!

So swing on by and say hi! 10% of all sales, both in-store and online, will go towards the preservation work that Friends of the Boundary Waters so diligently maintains.

Our 2026 Summer Reading Challenge is here! 📚 ☀️

Starting today through the end of July, you can pick up a sheet (in-store only!) and dive into the delight of reading! Something about summertime makes reading ✨ extra delicious✨.

Kids AND grown ups can participate, because we all could benefit from some loose structure, even on summer vacation!

It’s Feature Friday! And since it is the last Friday in May, we are doing another local AAPI author pick!

This gorgeous middle grade novel in verse is from local author V.T. Bidania, based on her own family’s experience. ‘A Year Without Home’ will be in our forthcoming Summer Buyer’s Guide, and here’s what Bookseller Heather’s review has to say about it:

“‘A Year Without Home’ is a book I would have absolutely loved as a reader obsessed with kids-who-navigate-and-survive-extreme-circumstances. (If that isn’t an *official* genre already, it should be!) Based on true events after The Secret War in Laos, this story follows a young girl and her family as they flee into the jungle, hoping to escape the horrible reality plaguing their beautiful homeland. V.T. Bidania has created a lyrical and relatable novel in verse I will be thinking about for a long time to come.“ -Heather

It’s Feature Friday! AND it’s AAPI Heritage Month, which means we are featuring a book by a local AAPI author every week!

This week’s feature is by local graphic novelist Trung Le Nguyen! It was a staff fave this past year, because we loveee a good graphic novel in this house!

Here’s what owner Jess had to say about it:

“Oh, Trung Le Nguyen has done it again! ‘Angelica and the Bear Prince’ is a beautiful story about grief and what can happen when you have your community to lean on. This is such a magical graphic novel and is filled with the most lovable characters. A gentle reminder that we’re not meant to feel joy constantly, we’re meant to feel.’
