Description:
This bicycle ride centers around Rice Creek in the Northeast suburbs of Minneapolis. The route starts by climbing into the hills of Columbia Heights before cruising along some county roads. It heads down a lonely gravel road adjacent to the Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant in Arden Hills, an abandoned World War II era facility that has become a favorite among local explorers and graffiti artists.
The route snakes its way through the Rice Creek Trail corridor, hitting some dirt and gravel along the way. The trail designers did their best to thread the needle through a dense landscape of properties, waterways, and railroads. As a result, the trail has some tight corners and awkward intersections. Stay alert and stay on route. The ride ends with a serene cruise along the Mississippi River.
Rules of the Ride:
- Respect other road and trail users. Give space and an audible signal when passing.
- Communicate with your fellow riders. Call out obstacles, turns, and other trail users. Use audible and visual signals.
- Respect each other. No racist, homophobic, transphobic, or disrespectful behavior allowed.
