Amos Nelson Wilson (1941–1995) was an influential African-American theoretical psychologist, social theorist, and Pan-African scholar. He is best known for his incisive critiques of the power dynamics underlying racism and his calls for Black economic and psychological self-determination.

Background and Education
Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Wilson experienced the realities of segregation firsthand, which deeply informed his later work. He pursued an extensive academic career, earning degrees from several prestigious institutions:
Morehouse College: Undergraduate degree (1964).

The New School for Social Research: Master’s degree.
Fordham University: PhD in Psychology. Key Philosophies and Theories Wilson's work often transcended traditional psychology to address the structural and economic realities of the African diaspora.

Power over Attitudes: He argued that the primary social problem was the "vast power differentials" between Africans and non-Africans. He believed racism was not just about personal prejudice but was a structural phenomenon exercised by those with the power to do so.

Educational Philosophy: Wilson challenged the concept of "equal education," arguing that education should be specifically tailored to solve a people's unique problems and ensure their biological and cultural survival. Economic Autonomy: He was a strong advocate for Black economic empowerment, urging the community to build its own institutions and businesses to gain a favorable position in the global hierarchy.

Major Works Wilson authored several seminal books that remain central to Africana and psychological studies:
Blueprint for Black Power:
A massive, detailed guide exploring the moral, political, and economic imperatives for Black empowerment in the 21st century.

The Developmental Psychology of the Black Child: One of the first works to specifically address the unique psychological growth and needs of Black children.

Black-on-Black Violence: An analysis of how systemic white supremacy can lead to self-destructive behaviors within marginalized communities.

The Falsification of Afrikan Consciousness: A critique of how Eurocentric history and psychiatry have impacted the African mind.

Professional Legacy Beyond his writing, Wilson served as a professor at the City University of New York (CUNY) and the College of New Rochelle. He also worked practically as a social caseworker and a supervising probation officer in the New York City Department of Juvenile Justice, giving him a grounded perspective on the issues he analyzed in his scholarship. He passed away in 1995 at the age of 53, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence modern Pan-African thought.

Completed only days before his assassination, Blood in My Eye is George L. Jackson’s final, most provocative testament. This isn't just a memoir; it is a profound analysis of the American system and a blueprint for revolutionary change. Jackson’s writing remains a piercingly relevant critique of class, race, and power, offering an uncompromising look at the cost of liberation and the necessity of resistance."
