Holly, sacred wood of winter, light guiding us through the dark of the year and favored by the King after whom it is named, who rules til Yule has passed and the Oak King brings back the light.
The beautiful pale white and ivory tones of holly harken to its affiliation with light, as it is easy to feel like you are holding a beam of it in your hand when you pick it up, but don't be fooled! Holly has a dark side and harnesses the dark arts as powerfully and adeptly as any ebony, or blackwood!
Holly is a wood of healing and cleansing and is associated with all the elements making it a master wood, but correlates most powerfully with water and earth. This wood is fiercely protective and like the leaves that grow from it, holly is unafraid to harm those who intend it or its wielder harm. Holly's power does ebb and flow with the seasons and witches who favor autumn, winter, and the dark of night will find a stronger connection to holly than they may expect, given its color and weight.
Underestimate holly wands at your peril. All the power of their King rests within them and to undermine them would be folly.
You can see these beautiful wands in person at Witchmas on December 4th! Don't miss out!
