For more than four decades, Things From Another World was part of downtown Milwaukie and helped make comic book retail a fixture on Main Street.

This week, one of the most visible pieces of that history came down. We cannot share where the old sign went, but we can say that it is in good hands.

That history is personal for me as the owner of the new store. This is where I bought my first comic book as a kid, where I picked up Star Trek model kits, and where I bought my first manga.

We have tremendous respect for what this storefront has meant to generations of readers, collectors, gamers, and families in Milwaukie.

The sign may be gone, but comic book retail is staying on Main Street.

A new chapter is coming to 10977 SE Main Street.

A huge thank you to Juan Carlos Montoya for taking the time to speak with us and for putting together such a thoughtful article about the shop, how we came to be, and what we’re building in Downtown Milwaukie.

We truly appreciate the coverage and look forward to inviting Juan Carlos to visit once we have our opening date set!

Give the article a read!

We would love to be a home for indie comics creators! If you are a local artist hit us up on social media or email us at [email protected]!

Iconic independent publishers like Dark Horse and Oni Press call Oregon their home, but how did Portland become a key player in the rise of the indie comics scene?

Some may ask, “What are you doing when the shop isn’t being built?”

Well, what a handsome question! I’m glad you asked!

Some weekends, we play D&D with friends. It certainly gets us thinking about what products we should carry to best meet the needs of both new players and folks deep into long and detailed campaigns.

So, what would you like to see us carry?
