Every year, I look forward to when our tiny Virginia spiderwort (Tradescantia virginiana) begins to bloom just tucked under our ferns. 🌿 We have both purple blooms, and the less common white ones with their purple, muppet-like hair and tiny yellow peanuts. 💜🤍 Sadly, I wish they bloomed for more than one day, like the Day Lilies. 🦋

I found a bunch of Yellow salsify flower, (Tragopogon dubius) outside of Mayfair Mall in an island divider. It is also often referred to, as the western goat’s beard. Interestingly enough, it’s a biennial plant, often considered an invasive w**d. Surprisingly, the entire flower is edible, and people have said it tastes like artichokes or oysters. Much like the dandelion, it spreads by seeds. I spotted the yellow salsify, because of its uniquely shaped, spiked flowerhead. 🌼 🦋 **d

Good morning beautiful people! 🔆 Our Giant Purple Clematis are blooming! 💜 I just had a hummingbird fly right up to my face, and hovered for like 5 seconds…then it pi**ed itself and flew away! 👀 I almost did the same! 🤣🤣🤣 What a cool way to start my morning. I like to think it was my Aunt Maureen saying hello. 🪽 She’d be more like an eagle though. 🦅 🦋

I set a small goal for myself at the beginning of Spring, to start drawing again. So I purchased this guided gardening journal to get me started. I love the way the journal is laid out. I’m super excited that I am finally back to drawing freehand again. ☺️ There is something truly meditative, about getting lost in the artistic process. 🌸✍🏽 I’m very proud of myself for sticking to my goal, of drawing a few hours everyday in my garden sketch journal. I love it so much, I already purchased next years journal. Eventually, I’d like to make a printed book 📖 of all my flower drawings. 🦋

It was so fun to watch Mama Robin building her nest, in our Sambucas bush in our backyard. As soon as my Mom turned on our drip system for our flowers, she was diligently collecting mouthfuls of wet mud to pack around her nest. 🪺 I must have watched her make at least 50 trips back and forth. 🦋
