As most are aware, overnight, the State of Vermont received several inches of rain associated with the remnants of Hurricane Beryl. The City of Essex Junction and the Town of Essex fortunately have faired much better than some other localities in Vermont. So far, we have road closures on Route 128 (pictured), Pettingill Road, and North Williston Road. There have been no damages reported in either community.

At 0730AM this morning, the Winooski River was reported to be at 15.95 feet and is expected to crest at approximately 0200PM today at 17.80 feet, just under major flood stage. Just for reference, last July the Winooski River crested at 23.28 feet!

The Essex Emergency Management Team continues to monitor the weather and water levels and are prepared to respond to any emergencies. Our thoughts are with those who live in flooded areas and we are prepared to assist other Towns if needed.
