Hello everyone . I hope your traps have been full this fall. With the weather we have been getting lately it sure has been a struggle.
After a successful deer season I finally got to put some traps out. At first it was smooth sailing catching some fox and then it went to freekin possums. Nothing pi**es me off more than to have a perfectly good set ruined by these over grown rats. I must say I did catch the largest possum ever. That thing was a pig.
Things slowed down as was expected due to the nice weather. Then the heavy rains came with a cold blast of arctic air and you guessed it, trying to dig a trap bed now is tough without a jack hammer. And the forcast for tonight is heavy rains and another arctic blast. I do not know what we did to deserve this but its something else to deal with.
It was crickets chirping at Arrowhead Trapping Supply until deer season was done and then folks decided it was time to set some steel. The phone has been ringing off the hook. Between putting up and shipping orders and receiving orders and running a trapline no one has to rock my cradle at night to get me to sleep. Along with this folks who are fed up with the coyote situation in the state are blowing my phone up wanting them removed. Being to hard to trap them we are setting up and calling them.
I have alot of folks to thank here. First and foremost my wife Diane for all of the support when I am at my wits end. I would be lost without her. Second is my trapping bud Logan. This kid loves to trap and is here every morning raring to go check traps. He caught foxes this year, the first were covered in mange. He finally connected with a mature red fox and is still on cloud nine. If he did not say thats cool one hundred times that day he did not say it once. This fox is headed to the taxidermist for a full body mount.
I also want to thank my granddaughter Shaley for her assistance on the line. At seven years old she is hooked also. And to Trevor too for all of your help.
And to the folks who I deal with daily thanks for the business, daily comments and more importantly the photos of your catches.
On behalf of myself and Diane , we want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year!!!

WOW.Only eight days left and we can start trapping again. At the end of every season I always whine and pout about how long it will be before I can trap again. Then this time of year I do the same because the season is creeping up on us so fast.
The couple of critters I have checked are not prime yet so you might want to delay setting. Its tough enough to do all the work involved only to catch a critter that is not ready and worthless.
I will again this year target animals who wreak havock on other critters I love to hunt, ie. partridge, turkey and deer. Fox, coyote and c**n will be on the list.
Its been busy at the shop with all the last minute preps going on. There is still a lot of interest in trapping worldwide. Even tho prices are still very low folks are going to trap. There is still a good market for tanned furs and alot of folks are making thier own garments with the fur they catch. So have a safe season and be sure to send some pictures along. Thanks

Soooo, it does not look good for a fall trap cert class. Butttttttt if you folks have completed your books and are just in need of a field exercise let’s chat. I want everyone who is on deck to trap to be able to do so this fall.let me know ASAP.Its not the way I want to do it but I want folks to be able to enjoy trapping. Please text me with your info including name, number, and number of folks who will be attending. Most importantly be willing to follow Covid guidelines.

09/04/2020

Hi all. The time is near.i can not wait to start trapping.the shop has been crazy busy.lots of folks still trapping. Give us a call for any of your needs.just a warning if we are out of something it takes up to a week to get it here.we can do over nite shipping but the postage is crazy.

08/13/2020

Hi All. Hope everyone is healthy and safe. It's hard to think trapping when it's 90+ 80% humidity but; I for one think trapping 24-7, 365.
Due to the COVID s**t show I am ready to go. All my equipment has been checked and I can not wait. I am going to retire Oct 1st after 41 years in law enforcement so i WILL HAVE AMPLE TIME.
The great State of Vermont made food scraps in the landfill illegal in July. My prediction came true. Most folks will not or can not comply so the back yard becomes the dump. Nuisance calls have been unreal! There is still no word on how we will get rid of our furs this year. I plan on shipping mine to dealers in the US. No one knows what Fur Harvesters plan is as I write this. We did get a couple of cool nights recently and that makes the phone start to ring. Just a note, if you want supplies to get them early, our shop is well stocked, but anything I need to order is a week wait or more due to the postal service. With trapping activity down the last couple of seasons there is an abundance of critters roaming the planet. Just a short ride do9wn the road will prove that in my home town we have many mangey K-9's, just proof of over population. Mother nature is much more cruel than trappers.

All trappers Ed classes are still in limbo. We can hold them but all of the restrictions make it quite cumbersome. I will keep everyone updated. Bottom line, do your social distance and TRAP!

As we start our 15th year at Arrowhead Trapping Supply we would like to thank all of our LOYAL customers for their patronage. Looking forward to seeing you this year! We appreciate all the phone calls, text messages with your stories, you guys all ROCK!!

Randy and Diane
p.s .if you have any trapping supplies kicking around that you are no longer using the Vermont Trappers Association has started a program where folks donate their unwanted equipment and it is passed out to new graduates of the trappers training course. Its been a huge success thus far lets see if we can keep it going..
Visit VT Trappers for contact numbers for a director in your area...thanks in advance.

Happy 2019 to everyone. We at Arrowhead Trapping Supply hope all is well.
The weather has surely been fickle this trapping season. From the deep snows and early cold to no snow and spring like weather we have certainly had some curve balls thrown at us.
Even tho all you hear is trapping is down you would not know it here in Vermont. The real trappers are at it, and having good luck on the line. As always money should not be a factor, being outside and matching wits with the critters is what its all about.
Mark your calendars, January 18,19,20 for the Yankee Classic in Essex, Vermont. Your very own Vermont Trappers Association is the lead sponsor of the event this year. As I write this plans are in the works for a fun filled three days with a lot of trapping seminars and trap talk. Stay tuned fro more info. As the details are finalized I will post them on this page to give all a heads up. If you have an issue you would like covered give me a shout and we can try to work it into the event.
As far as fur prices it looks like the same as last year, with bumps in selected items.
Have a good year and we hope to see you at the classic, if not before.

Attention all trappers please make sure you know the new regulations that were past last year about beaver/otter trapping, colonie traps and mandatory trappers reports!!
I know many of you dislike filling out the trapper reports but the informatoin received from them greatly help us in the battle to fight the anti's. In this last go around with getting rules changed this information helped us to make this process and easy one, without it i would hate to think what might have happened. It only takes a few moments of your time to fill out this crucial report. starting in 2018 if you do not fill it out you will not be able to purchase another trapping license.

10/27/2017

well folks the time we have been waiting for is here. I will be not setting tomorrow because the reports I have been hearing are that nothing is prime yet. I have waited this long , whats another week or two. Prices for fur are still low, and blue fur is basically worth nothing, unless you are in it for wall hangings or taxidermy. Regardless, if you go be safe and take a kid with you. Dancing chains to all!!!!!
