There is a special bond between a hunter and his dog. Kai was a "once in a lifetime" dog in many ways. She was my rising star and my chosen mother of the next generation of truly great hunting Golden Retrievers.
My heart is broken as Kai was a part of my soul, my family, and my business.
My hope is that Kai's death was not in vain......and written off as just a tragic accident. I hope other waterfowl hunters see this and take a hard look at their own safety practices. This hunt went from one of the best days in the season to one of the worst days of my life in a matter of seconds.
Guys/Gals, they are just birds. Don't get in a rush and compromise basic gun safety rules. This accident was preventable. It should have never happened had the guest hunters followed the rules. Specifically, the "pit boss" calls the shot. They knew that. It was my blind, my gear, my dog, my rules.

Looks like a great hatch this year!

🚨 UPDATE FROM THE TUNDRA 🚨

The early reports from the arctic sound very promising. The snow goose hatch is above average in almost all colonies. The specks and cacklers also are reporting excellent hatches. Lets hope we don't get any weather events to downgrade the reports!

The scum bags used a stolen credit card to make the purchase.
