Q1 in a brick & mortar?? Survived… and actually THRIVED 🤭✨

I just wrapped my first ever quarter one with my storefront (we opened in May, so this was new territory) and listen… everyone had me thinking it was gonna be crickets 🫠 “no sales, slow season, prepare for the worst” — the whole time it turned out to be not that bad of a season 🤷🏽‍♀️

Here’s what really went down 👇🏽
✨ Started the year as a 40 Under 40 honoree (?? still processing)
📰 Press + magazine feature momentum carried all Q1
💘 First in-store Valentine’s Day = we were so busy I had to turn down orders (painful the FOMO was real)
🌸 Hosted our Lilac & Lemon Galentine’s candle class
🤝 Secured new wholesale accounts + partnerships
🏆 Pitched our perfume bar at the Kirkland Pitch Competition
🌍 Partnered for Black History Month + Women’s History Month (hello exposure!!)
🏡 Turned our annual Flower & Garden Show audience into actual in-store customers

And the biggest lesson?
Brick & mortar is a DIFFERENT beast… but once you understand your seasons, you can really start to scale intentionally.

Q1 taught me what’s possible — Q2 we’re coming in smarter, louder, and more strategic 😌📈

If you’re a small business owner scared of slow seasons… this is your sign that you don’t actually know until you’re in it.

Sometimes I stand in my storefront and remember when this was just a prayer, a Pinterest board, and blind faith. 🥹✨🤍

Three years ago, if you told me I would own a brick & mortar fragrance shop for The Remontant, I probably would’ve laughed… or cried tears of joy. And now here we are — officially ONE YEAR in our Downtown Kirkland storefront. 🌹✨

This past year has stretched me, humbled me, challenged me, exhausted me, and blessed me in ways I truly can’t even explain. 🥲🤍

We created Kirkland’s first candle bar with paraben-free & phthalate-free luxury candles and perfumer-designed candle making classes where people can create personalized scents using beautifully curated ingredients sourced from around the world. 🕯️🌍✨

We’ve also had the honor of carrying products from other women-owned businesses throughout the PNW because supporting small local businesses will always matter deeply to me. 🤍✨

Being a Black-owned fragrance shop in Downtown Kirkland has honestly been one of the greatest honors of my life. 🥹🖤

I think I need to start a series on all the things I’ve learned as an entrepreneur in a brick & mortar setting — the reals, the regrets, and the realities. 😭✨

I honestly think that could be such an interesting series… and boy do I have a lot to say about it. 🥲🤍

And soon… Kirkland’s first perfume bar will be arriving. 👀✨

I have no idea what this next year will hold, but one thing about us? We’ll continue blooming — and more than once in a single season. 😉🌹✨
