Youngite is a highly sought-after, rare variety of chalcedony and brecciated jasper native to Guernsey, Wyoming. It forms when fractured, colorful rocks are naturally cemented together by silica-rich fluids and crowned with sparkling quartz.

The Quartz Source has a wide variety of youngite, including these rough slab pieces, youngite rough clusters, and youngite tumbled stones.

NEW INVENTORY:
We are excited to welcome new treasures into the store this week. Amethyst Clusters from Brazil!!

These lovely rough specimens contain a lavender color that is soothing to the eyes, and to the mind. If you look close up, you will notice that some of them contain little specks inside the crystal. This is a special occurrence. These little reddish brown specks are naturally occurring hematite (iron) that form inside as a result of hydrothermal fluid deposition within volcanic gas bubble.

This occurs as a layer of hematite settles onto the quartz crystal during a pause in growth, and then a new layer of amethyst forms over it, creating "phantom" crystals.

We are very excited with the new round of inventory we received this week--Amethyst Flat Bottom Geodes from Uruguay. These stunning specimens have a deep purple color, and nearly perfect crystallization.

Our Flat Bottom Geodes range between 1 to 4 lbs in weight -- 6 to 10 inches in height. They are on the smaller size, but their pristine quality makes them a fabulous addition to anyone's collection.
