Jeff (husband) and I were discussing the sturdiness of my HOA. He kept talking around me trying to talk myself up about how good I am at building sturdy structures out of junk.

Me: you’re supposed to say “wow, you’re so good at building…”.

Jeff: what was I supposed to say? Wow, your magical enchantment really worked!

Ellie (11 yr old daughter): yeah dad. Bow down to the plant goddess.

We all laughed so hard. She’s one witty kid!

My husband is helping me plant dahlia tubers today at the farm. Alex of Finch Florals took this picture there today. Isn’t it so cute???

How do we know if the turtle is a he or a she?

My other peonies are slow to bloom this year but this one decided it was going to be first to bloom for the second year in a row.

In the ground today:

About 100 lisianthus I very proudly grew from seed.

Some poppies that were winter sown and probably won’t survive.

52 dahlias!!!

20 Lee’s Starchild dahlias
20 Kelgai Ann dahlias
Bronze fennel
Mexican Tarragon (actually a marigold I think)
Sedum that I propagated myself

My son helped and worked hard. I am proud of him.

WINNER: 🥇 Andrea P. was accurate on the use (ticks are arthropods) but she got the name wrong. However, her name is even better.

I call them my Tick Snips. When I find ticks crawling on me, ignoring my insect repellent, they get snipped in half.
