Hot take: hay quality matters just as much in summer as it does in winter. 🌾

Here's something a lot of horse owners don't think about until there's a problem. When pasture quality peaks in early summer, horses on full turnout may actually be taking in less dry matter than you think because fresh grass is mostly water.

Horses still need consistent forage to keep the hindgut moving. Pulling hay entirely when pasture looks great can quietly lead to digestive upset, changes in manure, or unexplained behavior shifts.

A simple rule to keep in mind: forage first, always. Even in June. 🙌

Green pasture is great, but it’s not always complete nutrition.🐴

As horses transition to spring grass, they may still need support for minerals and balanced energy.

Pasture alone doesn’t always cover everything.

Have you adjusted your feeding plan yet this season? 🌱
