This should be one of the largest antiques sales in Utah. Everything will sell in 2 days making it the mega sale of the decade . I can't think of a bigger sale in the last 10 years. There will be big bargains. Without a doubt you'll find something you want at a bargain. Just the volume is overwhelming. There's 1800 Square feet that I have packed with wonderful curios. Here are dozens of photographs that show the depth of selection. I encourage, no more than that, I am for you to go to that sale. I won't be there, I don't think I can watch the items I have selected over the years sell at discount prices. But I wish you good luck and I hope you find something you can treasure. I suggest you buy a lot of punchboards at bargain prices. Scatter them around for Christmas presents. They are a great curio and will be sold today hell of a bargain. And do me a favor.

The last little bit of finessing on the mechanism of a 1928 slot machine.
She is running smooth. It is useless knowledge now but I have a lifetime of experience fixing antique mechanical slot machines. Now I have no workbench, or parts, and my mind has atrophied.
I used to be somebody. Good times

PRIZEFIGHTERS
Fantastic collection of 8 x 10 promotional photographs of famous boxers.
This collection was found in the famous Bingham Canyon Saloon;
THE COPPER KING SALOON
Many of the photographs have live ink signatures. Some are printed.
Most of these photographs have been reframed with oak salvaged from railroad ties of the Kennecott Electric Ore Train. The frames show character and have evidence of removed railroad spikes.
I have prized this collection since my father gave it to me.
But here I am, selling off many of my great collectibles.
I'm posting on Facebook until I can get an ad on KSL and eBay
You might tell or share to your Friends with interests in Bingham Canyon or Sports memorabilia

“OLD RUM” FELTON & SONS - SIGN
I am thrilled that I was able to discover and buy this fantastic turn-of-the-century, reverse glass advertisement.
The large 24 x 30 image is a sheet of glass painted and gold leaf lettered by artists from the back.
Any bar n**e is a valuable acquisition, and what few of them there are, are usually paintings or framed lithographs. A bar n**e in reverse glass is incredibly rare. Frankly I haven't seen another one with an image this risqué ever.
In the twilight of my life, or at least the late afternoon, I have been disposing of my vast inventory and lifetime collection. So to be able to have the experience of this great find keeps my juices flowing. I punch my fist into the air and exclaim "I'm still in the game”
I plan on hanging this over my mantle for a while before putting it on the market.
> I wanted to share this sign, the discovery, and my personal excitement with my Facebook friends

Q: Is this a cigarette machine or a slot machine?
A: It's both
This is a 1937 Jennings CIG-A-ROLA slot machine. This machine was made to take nickels and or dimes, spin the wheels, and with the right combination, ci******es were vended as prizes. The reel strips are cigarette packs and not lemons cherries and oranges. It exhibits a Art Deco styling appropriate for the period
> I found it in a hoarders garage/shed in West Valley City Utah. It had seen better days and was at the tipping point of being junk. I brought it back to the antiques warehouse where over a period several months I meticulously repaired the peeling veneer. I didn't restore the cabinet, but brought it to life with repairs, patches, and polish to a presentable clean original unrestored look. The mechanism was not much of a challenge with my past experience, but did need a complete cleaning and several adjustments to work flawlessly. The Cig-a-rola sat in my warehouse for quite a while as I only tinkered with it now and then. I consigned the working rarity to a prestigious auction House in Las Vegas where it was sold for $2800. Their vig was 20% for a net of $2240. It was a fun fulfilling profitable project.

3rd Ave.Grocery busted for Slot Machine
The slot machine was in the basement and not being operated, so they were busted merely for possession.
Often, proprietors were tipped off to an impending bust by somebody on the inside of the Police Department. The police were known to do this themselves as they didn't want to go through all of the hoops to bust such a simple thing. This machine possibly was removed to the basement just before the time of the unannounced raid.
This machine is a 1936 Caille Cadet, manufactured by the Caille Brothers Company in Detroit. Notice the Art Deco styling, perfect for its 1936 manufacture. The Cadet was not the most durable machine using fewer operating parts, but it was lighter, cheaper, and smaller then its competitors; Mills and Jennings out of Chicago.

PAWN STARS is calling
I received this email today as an initial introduction for me and my Diana layout as a possible future feature on Pawn Stars. The layout is a fantastic piece of Western memorabilia dating to about turn-of-the-century, and exceedingly rare. An impressively large 29” X 54”, framed in wood, card game layout signed by the maker that displays beautifully. It is an off-green background with detailed card designs on silkscreened linen based oil cloth. Interestingly it shows just the right amount of natural wear from actual play. I bought it in South Dakota years ago. I was told that it came out of Deadwood, a completely believable story. In the card game of Diana the player could bet on high or low or on red or black at even money, a suit at 3 to 1, any one of a kind at 8 to 1, or a single card at 32 for 1. It didn't take players long to figure out that the game was a no-win situation for them and the game soon vanished, making surviving layout examples like this one rare.

BINGHAM CANYON FIREMAN HELMET
Shield marked “BINGHAM - UTAH - CANYON
Cairns & Brother - Leather High Eagle fire helmet - ca 1880 -1900
There is an old adage in the firefighting community that the profession is 150 years of tradition unimpeded by progress. The original fire helmet called a fire cap, was designed in 1731 by Jacobus Turk for the Fire Department of New York. An ornamental eagle—with no related significance—was added to the helmet design around 1825. The "leatherhead" is constructed almost entirely of leather. The leather's resistance to heat actually rivals that of modern composites. The large brim that dips down in back is designed to divert hose water that drips off of the ceiling.

25c SLOT MACHINE
This is an interesting slot machine with some unusual history behind it. This is a 1939 model Mills brand Diamond Front slot machine. After over 40 years of manufacturing slot machines, Mills had refined the mechanism to be nearly failsafe, quiet, and smooth. When World War II broke out the factory was ideally suited as a large machine shop for the war effort. They took on all kinds of contracts and even though it seemed unpatriotic at times they were able to sneak through a few slot machines based on this 1939 model. Aluminum was impossible to get, the resource went entirely to the war effort especially the manufacture of airplanes. This did not stop the determined manufacturer. They went from aluminum to cast-iron so they could continue making the slot machines that they had been known for for the previous 40 or 50 years. This particular slot machine is in cast-iron, which means that it was built during World War II. The original 1939 models were often finished in chrome, but because of the war, chrome was also dedicated to the war effort. This machine has its original thick wrinkle and glitter paint in almost immaculate condition. The machine comes with everything original: the cash box, paper strips, instruction sheet, original lock with matching serial number and key, nearly perfect paint, and optional drill proof sides. It is untouched inside and out. The 75-year-old grease that has hardened, and a couple of springs have fatigued with age. It won't take much to have this operating is smooth as the day it came from the factory. This "oh so" original machine is built like a tank, and a lucky find.

DOUGHBOY PUNCH CARD
This is a cardboard version of a punchboard. it is a type of trade stimulator used in small general stores. The customer would take a chance by pushing out one of the small circles in the soldier's backpack that would announce how much he is to pay,
The prize is a variety of trinket items that would seem to be worth about a dollar. The average price the customer would pay is 40 cents. The die cut cardboard folds up so the soldier can standup on his own. I have quite a few of these and sell them regularly on eBay along with punchboards.

Enterprise #3 Coffee Grinder
I restored, or possibly just horsed it up, this coffee grinder 15 years ago. It's been sitting in my kitchen. All of the wood is new - I repainted it, added reproduction decals and an eagle to the lid. This is far from original but it still grind coffee and looks really great. [better than the photo]

1973 Business card
Slot machine collecting was in its infancy in the 1970s. A full dossier of information had yet to have been collected. Dad had connections in the business and I had youth, a keen eye and ambition. Between the two of us we found exceedingly rare coin machines and some national treasures. These were fun times and profitable. Interstate shipment of of slot machines may have been illegal. I dubbed the 63 Econoline as the Contra - van. Fraternal clubs like the Elks and Moose we're selling off their vintage slot machines and there were times I could filll the van with up to 14 vintage slot machines. The Victorian machine on the business card was one my father found that was used in the ghost town of Bingham Canyon Utah. It belonged to my father. I sold it after his death for my mother. It is an exceedingly rare Caille Bullfrog that was the first one known. Since then a few others have surfaced. In the mid 1980s, I was down on my luck and sold off most of my great collection.

PENNY PEEP SHOW
Put one cent in this barrel and the light comes on so you can see "a collection of shapely pinups, in full color, without clothes” . The disappointment comes when what you see is a clothesline with some empty colored clothes pins. I've got the barrel only. The machine works. It can and did stand alone but I'll probably look for someway to duplicate the enticing young woman.

Here they come again - The popular TV show.
The first time they came to Salt Lake, I tried hard to pimp myself as a local appraiser. At the time I was an active and certified appraiser in antiques. I had no response - zip - zilch - zero. — - I enjoy the program, I won't bother to get a ticket or fight the crowds. I can do my own appraising.

Ever wondered how much that dusty doodad in your grandma's attic is worth? You might be able to find out this summer, because Antiques Roadshow is coming to Salt Lake City! Apply for tickets now! #AntiquesRoadshow #SLC
