Come meet children’s author Loren Smith Saturday, June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. at O’Brien’s Bookshop in downtown Midlothian, Texas.

Loren is the author of the Nanny Cat series — adorable picture books based on her own Siamese cats. Join Hazel, Mavis, and Pico doing what cats love to do! Whether they are napping, enjoying a snack, or playing together, they always know how to have a good time.

You can purchase her books at the event. Please RSVP using the QR code in the image so we know how many people to expect. This ensures we have enough books on hand.

Loren Smith is a wife, mother, and self-proclaimed crazy cat lady. She earned her Master of Special Education in 2022 and has taught in public schools for the past eight years. She currently resides in Texas with her loving husband, Michael, their daughter, Aria, and their three cats, Hazel, Mavis, and Pico.

Join Kristy, Claudia, Stacey, Mary Anne and Dawn for crafts like friendship bracelets and glammed t-shirts! We’ll also make cootie catchers and have snacks. Everyone who attends gets a goodie bag with Baby-Sitters Club merchandise. We’ll even draw for 2 special Baby-Sitters Club branded prizes at the end!

Just 2 weeks to go!

Find Waldo Local is coming to Midlothian! This July, O’Brien’s Bookshop will be one of 325 bookshops in the U.S. hosting a monthlong scavenger hunt to find Waldo in 25 participating local businesses. We’d love for you to be part of it!

Beginning July 1, players can pick up a stamp card at O’Brien’s Bookshop or any of the participating businesses. We’ll list all the businesses soon, so check back here. The businesses will also be listed on the stamp card. Look for the “Find Waldo Here” window clings at the businesses and start hunting!

When you find the 6-inch cardboard Waldo standup in the business, the business will stamp your card. When you collect 10 stamps, you get a Waldo poster and glasses. You’ll pick up these prizes at O’Brien’s Bookshop. When you collect 20 stamps or more, you’re in the drawing for the huge stack of Waldo books and other prizes!

At the end of July (date TBD), we’ll throw a big Waldo celebration party and draw for the grand prize and other prizes. Get ready to play with us all through July!

He’s here! Come meet Texas historical fiction author Phil Oakley Saturday, June 13 from 2 to 4 p.m. at O’Brien’s Bookshop in downtown Midlothian, Texas. He’ll be signing his trilogy Texas historical fiction book series The Oakleys. If you love western or post-World War I fiction, you’ll love this series!
