•1990 Leaf Series 1 baseball boxes

As those who collected in this era are aware, this was one of the more significant releases during the "junk wax" era. Aside from 1989 Upper Deck and 1992 Bowman, this Leaf release was one of the trend setters toward the "high" end card market, with packs selling for dollars rather than cents.

Show off Sunday! A series where we show off cards that don't necessarily belong to us but rather belong to our customers along with some details/story regarding the card.

Today's card(s):
•1984 Elias Brother's (Big Boy) Detroit Tigers Placemats

How cool are these? One of our loyal customers brought this set of four Detroit Tigers placemats to us to admire.

The Tigers won the World Series in 1984, which as a result, there were ample promotional and advertisement opportunities surrounding the team and the players. This is one of the more unique examples of that.

Each placemat features two players from the championship team along with their stat lines and facsimile signatures. The back of the placemats includes both the roster and statistics of the Wolrd Series winning 1968 and 1984 Tigers teams as well as an aerial view of Tigers Stadium.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear that there will be a 2026 Tigers World Series placemat to go along with this set anytime in the future.

Oddball items like this are great to see in person and provide great conversation for us and our customers! We could stand around all day and talk sports and sports cards. And sometimes we do!
