Those puffy little clouds started streaming in yesterday afternoon, ushered in by a cooling breeze. I knew right then that it was going to be a memorable sunset. I took myself down the windy road to the meadow below my house. Living in the big trees, one only sees filtered sunsets, the one thing I miss about living in the valley. What a show, the goddess, she did not disappoint.🥰✌🏼

I have had a very productive day today, finishing up projects for the shop and dividing up my Asiatic Lily to share with a friend. My oldest daughter Kate made this potting stand for Mother’s Day, more than ten years ago. She must have known what she was doing, as it’s withstood being outside and held up very well. She made it from reclaimed fence pieces from the fence at my old house in the valley. I use it quite alot, and it makes me smile and think of her every time I see it. I spent the last couple of hours lazing on the couch with the fan blowing on me and reading a good book. It’s been a good day!

Today’s roadside bouquet, some kind of yellow flower that grows prolifically along the side of the road and of course Queen Ann’s Lace, another prolific wild flower, that I suspect grows all over the world. Usually wildflowers aren’t great cut flowers, they look pretty for a day or two, but tend to wilt much quicker than most common cut flowers. I’m quite surprised how perky those Queen Ann’s Lace are looking after a couple of days! I’ll have to stop more often, as I quite like their blousy form. What’s your favorite wildflower for bouquets?

So nice to get home to the mountain after a couple busy and very hot days at the shop. I’m thankful for the ten degree cooler temps up here, but it’s still dang hot out, even it is cooler than the valley. I’m looking forward to a couple of days off, hopefully I’ll make it to the lake for a little swimming and lazing.

Even cowgirls get off their horse and get gussied up for an evening out, be it the local saloon or the rodeo. Here’s your nudge to take the road less traveled. This morning I had an urge to take the frontage road on the way to the shop. My ultimate goal was to grab a roadside bouquet to decorate the shop, which was a successful endeavor, though not these flowers. If I would have continued on my regular route, I would have missed this delightful sight! I always leave enough time wherever I go to pull over for a Kodak moment, and so should you!📷🌼🏞️
