Many years ago, a long time customer said, “If The Fun Shop doesn’t have it, you don’t need it!" That sort of became our tag line!

My sister Page Allen and I run the store, which our mother Nancy Allen started in 1956. We grew with the town. As things were needed and requested by the community, our mother just kept adding on and finding more products. She believed strongly in quality products, reasonable products and great customer service. We now have three buildings filled with wonderful gifts, party goods, kitchenware, accessories, stationery, home décor and more.

I started working in the shop when I was 9. My mother would take me on buying trips and would let me help order things. I guess it is just in my blood. I love everything about it, even the book keeping. I even used to sit next to my mother in the evenings when she worked at her desk and paid bills, etc. it all fascinated me. When I was expecting my first child, I asked my mother if I could start a children’s clothing department in the shop and of course, my mother agreed. I headed to New York and bought what I loved to see on children. Forty three years later, we still have a children’s department with great toys, gifts and books.

I just love everything about our shop: our amazing employees, our wonderful customers and of course, being able to have great items for all of our locals and visitors! It is a pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful community and to offer something for everyone.
