Gearing up for a Hoppy Easter! Stuck in a rut and not sure how to make Easter fun for your LO?
Easter rice is a fun sensory activity.

To make:
🥕 1 cup of white rice (we use the rice we don’t use in our box because we prefer instant rice)
🐰 1 tablespoon of white vinegar
🥚 1-4 drops of neon food coloring
🌸 Place all of the ingredients in a bag, shake until the dye is evenly distributed, then let the bag sit to dry.
🍬Repeat with other colors as desired and then mix the colors together once dried. Place in a Tupperware container and add it whatever fun items you want to the bin. We used felt bunnies and carrots as well as pom poms.
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ PRO TIP: let your child play with it for on a play mat that is easy to clean up afterwards.

It’s not always rainbows and unicorns... 🌈 🦄

Don’t get me wrong. Being a mom is a magical thing but there are times when it is not. Marble and Ivy was created to form a ✨ virtual community ✨ of other mamas to celebrate when things are up 🙌🏻and rally for one another when things are down👎🏻. Can we test that out for a second? I promise it won’t require much.

One of Marble and Ivy’s followers, , just found out her malignant melanoma has spread to five different areas of her body. She has a beautiful, chubby-cheeked toddler and a loving and supportive husband. She is just SO YOUNG to be going through this!

We all know how much of a blessing a hot meal was after delivering our babies. Think about how helpful it would be to have a gifted meal as a mom who is sick with cancer... I wanted to share her link to a virtual meal train set up to support the family while Mary goes through treatment. Can we as a community of other mamas help them out?

I put the link to donate a meal in my bio. Its so simple! Click on the link below, scroll down to “Gift Card”, and click on either “Grub Hub Gift Card”, “Door Dash Gift Card”, or “Restaurant / Grocery Gift Card”. In the notes feel free to add in the comments so she knows how you found out. That’s it! It only takes a few minutes but helps so much.

I’m a planner. I LOVE planning parties! Attention to detail excites me and I especially love making people feel SPECIAL.

My wedding was featured in for just this reason: for keeping our guests in the forefront of my wedding-planning mind as I selected every detail. When it came to celebrating our nanny’s birthday I wanted to make it feel special and customized.

Our nanny Grace loves orange, gold, and snakeskin so our party for her emphasized those things. I custom-made her a bottle of to truly celebrate her 21st in style with a keepsake she can cherish forever. I used an adhesive gemstone sheet from and used an Exacto knife to trim the sheet to size. I ordered her a custom label from and tied it all together with a gold banner, gold balloons, and a snakeskin birthday card. To treat our nanny with a special indulgence we brought in some famous chocolate chip cookies all the way from NYC 🍪 Finally, I created a custom birthday banner to screen on our The Frame tv to catch her attention as soon as she walked in the door.

We also gave her a paid day off so she could relax and celebrate however she wanted. When the weather warms up a bit we will take her out to a nice lunch on a patio somewhere. Our nanny loves on our son every day so her birthday was the perfect excuse to share some extra love (and bubbly) with HER! ✨ 🧡🍾

When I first had my son life felt chaotic. There is so much to do and keep track of when you have a baby. I needed a system to help.

That’s when I created my laminated “chore chart” / message board (second picture). It’s organized by things that need to be done daily, weekly, monthly, etc. I also have tear pads I hung using command strips. I cut pieces of magnets that had adhesive on one side of them and stuck them to the laminated chore chart. I then laminated different tasks with magnets on the back to move around as needed for each day. Finally, I hung a calendar using command strips to keep track of important upcoming events.

What the wall ended up doing was not only streamlining things for me and my husband but also helped create an easy way to communicate with our nanny on mornings where we were rushing into work. Each night before I go to bed I update the next day with things I want my nanny to do. I put things on there like, “wash bottles”, “load of laundry”, and “take Jackson outside to swing”. I also left some laminated tasks blank so I can write in tasks with a dry erase marker as needed.

My nanny, like me, is a “list person” so this system works great for her. There are days I don’t get to see her in the morning so she likes to rely on the board for communication about the day. Every morning she goes straight to the board and knows exactly what I’m hoping for her to help me with that day or any important messages like, “Jackson has a doctor appointment today. Please have him ready for me to pick up at noon today”. The system works great for us.

Give this a 💗 if you’re also a list person!

What is BLW? If you’re a new or expecting mom you probably see “BLW” all over the web.

BLW stands for baby-led weaning and it is one of the more popular trends for feeding babies these days. So what is it?

🥄 BLW introduces age-appropriate foods to a baby’s diet. It does not replace breastmilk or formula nor is it intended to truly provide the nutrition a baby needs prior to 1 year. As the saying goes, “Food before 1 is just for FUN!”
🥄 BLW fosters a spirit of independence in young babies because it teaches them how to feed themselves.
🥄 BLW introduces different flavors and textures to a child’s diet early. For some, this can help encourage more adventurous eating (read less picky) down the road!
🥄 BLW helps babies develop oral motor control. I personally noticed that my son learned how to push food that was too big to swallow out of his mouth within the first week of introducing BLW.

Why is it so great?
✅ Babies learn how to eat independently very early (easier meal times!)
✅ Babies, for the most part, can eat what you’re eating or some version of it. This makes dinner prep or dining out easier.
✅ Babies try a variety of foods so it can help prevent (but not guarantee) less picky eaters later on.
✅ It helps develop fine motor skills! In this picture you can see seven-month old Jackson already mastering his pincer grip!
✅ Some experts suggest that implementing allergens earlier into a baby’s diet can actually help reduce the baby’s likelihood of developing a food allergy later in life. *Always talk to a pediatrician before implementing new foods*

When can I begin?
⏰ Talk to your pediatrician before implementing new foods or methods of feeding!

Signs of readiness can include:
👶🏻 Baby can sit up with little or no support
👶🏻 Baby has good control over his head and neck
👶🏻 Baby shows interest in your food
👶🏻 Baby is able to reach out for things of interest to them
👶🏻 Many experts recommend waiting at least six months before beginning to introduce solids!

My son loves octopus, lamb, curry, bananas, chicken, shrimp, peppers, clementines, pickled ginger, puffs, and more! So far he just doesn’t like carrots 🥕

Mom bod 😒

Why is it that men can turn dad bods into a viral movement that’s considered sexy 🔥 but moms still can’t seem to embrace our bodies as sexy? I’m not calling out anyone without first calling out MYSELF 🙋🏼‍♀️I vowed to always keep things real so here it goes:

I made a goal for myself to lose all the baby weight by my 30th birthday. That gave me a little over seven months to do it. But you know what? I turned 30 today and I’m still two pounds away from hitting my goal. Instead of beating myself up about it or using FaceTune I’m sharing some real, vulnerable, and UNEDITED pics with you. I’m doing this because I’m DAMN PROUD of the human I created and the body that created it. This isn’t my ✨ DREAM BODY ✨ but you know what? That’s only a PART of who I am now. I’m learning to value who I AM more than the vessel I come in. It’s a process, though. My husband took a video of me and my son at the beach where you can hear me telling him that he didn’t need to film me. I was worried about how I would look. If he had listened to me I wouldn’t have a keepsake of me showing my baby the ocean for the first time. This is something I DREAMED about since before he was born! In these pictures I see stretch marks, arms that need toning, b***s that aren’t as perky post-breastfeeding, FAT, but you know what else I see? I see a mom THRILLED to share her happy place with her son- to watch the amazement in his eyes.

Don’t miss these moments because you’re worried about the way you look. You will never be as young as you are today. Savor it. Don’t press delete!! You’re sexy- even if you can’t see it. There’s nothing sexier than a mom who loves her baby so embrace the MOM BOD! 🤰🏼 👶🏻 🔥

I wanted to travel as much as I could before having my first kid. I knew travel would be different once we were a family of three (plus a pup) 🐶 We traveled all over the US including Hawaii and also waded in the crystal clear ocean surrounding Aruba, the historic sands of Israel and Jerusalem, and beyond. There were still plenty of places we wanted to visit before having Jackson but we scratched the “travel bug” itch and got a lot of it out of our system ✈️ I actually LOVE traveling with my 7-month-old but it’s... different now.

We’re down in Miami and our hotel includes bike rentals as part of the included resort fee. I was so excited when I saw it... and then realized we have a baby in tote and that wouldn’t be possible. While disappointing, it was fine. I realized there will come a time when we will be able to bike as a family. Or perhaps there will come a time we can vacation with family who can watch Jackson while Stephen and I go on a date and do some of the more restrictive things we can’t do when it’s just the three of us.

It made me think about pre-baby me, though. Made me think about the way I thought about travel. Even back then I asked myself, “What would I want to do now that I won’t be able to do once I’m a new mom?” THAT is what we did. We were very intentional about it and I truly think it helped lower the disappointment of not being able to do it now.

If you also love to travel give this a 💖. Let me know what things you miss or will miss as a mom.

Hold onto your hats and toss your expectations to the wind 💨

Vacationing with a baby is just NOT the same.., and that’s okay. Traveling with Jackson the last two trips to see family in Arizona was a breeze but now that he’s seven months old it is getting increasingly harder. Here are my few takeaways so far:
😴 Naps are CRITICAL! Do whatever you can to make them happen and try to stick to their schedule back home as much as possible.
🌍 Environment plays a huge role in nap times while on vacation. Try to mimic their environment back home to the best of your ability. Jackson is currently sleeping in his crib in the hotel BATHROOM because it’s the darkest, quietest place in our room. (We just don’t flush if we need to use it during nap time 🚽 )
✅ Leave your to-do list at home! It’s okay to have an anchor appointment per day (maybe that’s a dinner reservation or ONE fun activity that requires a reservation in advance but the less stuff on your agenda the easier it is to go with the flow and let baby tell you what they need.

Leave a 💖 if you agree that vacationing with a baby is a *trip* instead of a *vacation* or comment below to share your travel tips / stories about vacationing with baby 👶🏻

And just like that it was over.

6 months to the day my body started to give up. I should have seen the warning signs and known the end was imminent. I should have heeded the warning and prepared. But I didn’t. Just like that my pumping journey was over.

I woke up on January 4th to my normal routine. I walked downstairs to grab my pump and pump parts. Lately I have had to increase my pump time to 30 minutes to get a big enough yield to make it “worth it”. By “worth it” I mean 2 oz total. Not much... but it’s something.

Early on in my pumping journey when Jackson drank less milk I was fortunate to freeze away some milk but as he got older and started drinking more I was no longer making extra. My supply then tanked when I went back to work. I got my cycle back and it dipped again. I found myself unable to maintain a regular pump schedule due to the nature of my job. Couple that with having to wear an N95 mask all day and not staying hydrated and it was a recipe for a steady milk decrease. I took supplements, power pumped, tried to hydrate when I got home from work, ate the “right foods”, but ultimately I reconciled that it wasn’t going to fix the issue. I dropped down to two pumps per day just to get *something*. Two pumps turned into one and one turned into... none.

After pumping yesterday I checked to see how much milk I produced. 1/8 of an ounce. I was DEVASTATED. I considered going back to all my other failed attempts at increasing my supply but finally sat in silence and realization that this was the end. Whether I liked it or not... whether I was ready or not... the milk factory was officially CLOSED.

I woke up this morning uneasy- my morning ritual thrown off. For the past six months I had grown accustomed to pumping the second I woke up. Now what? To be honest I’m not really sure. Maybe more sleep. Maybe more time to workout in the morning. Maybe I’ll just wake up slowly and sip my morning coffee. All of that would sound great to most people but to me right now in this moment it doesn’t. I might eventually change my mind but right now I want to embrace my true emotions. I stare at my idol pump and feel empty... drained... because I am.
