Who should we donate to?
As a resident of Florida, I have been increasingly disturbed by the hate-based legislation that is being passed not only in my state but in many others. Last week I took a little time to focus on a new project because it is more important than ever to stand together against ideologies that strive to eradicate any community on any bases.
As a way to help raise awareness and donations for organizations who are doing the work everyday, I have created a "Hold the Line Against Hate" collection. Right now I have the designs listed as mugs, but I am willing to expand the line if you're interested in other items. Let me know in the comments.
I'd also like your help in deciding who I should donate proceeds to. Currently, I believe I will donate $2 from every Hold the Line Against Hate mug to Defense of Democracy, but I am willing to hear other suggestions for democracy-promoting organizations. This design represents unification, especially among marginalized communities. The paper dolls represent the colors of LGBTQIA pride, transgender pride, people of color and their allies, mental health awareness, and disability awareness.
The Cauldron mugs feature the store's logo with the colors of the q***r and trans-pride flags. This seemed like an appropriate fit since the name and logo for The Cauldron and The Labyrinth represent external and internal transformations.
With the Cauldron mugs, I am considering three different organizations to donate to: The Point Foundation, The Trevor Project, and the Human Rights Campaign. Let me know in the comments who I should donate to. I'll announce the decision on June 1st. Please share, so I can hear from as many people as possible.
