On July 7th I held my mothers hand for one last time and said my final good bye. At the age of 27, I can say that this has been one of the darkest times that I have seen my family endure. She left us at an age where she had so much more to give. So much more to experience…
I was blessed to be by her side for the remaining time she had left. I was at the hospital almost daily for two weeks, being present for my mother as best as I could. I’ll never forget those precious moments and reminiscing on old times.
“Hey Mom! Do you remember when….?!”
She used to take us to Target to buy packs of trading cards. It felt like once a year that we would make this sacred trip but in reality it was more like once a week!
For Alex it was Pokémon and for me YuGiOh. The thrill of ripping into a booster pack and revealing it’s contents! To my mother it was $4.99 for a giant tooth-gapped smile on each of her sons faces. But to Alex and me, it was SO much more…
As a teacher and mother; pieces of her will forever remain within the peoples lives that she had an impact on. Students, family, and friends will never forget who Cristina was and what she meant to those who got to experience her.
Alex and I love you to the moon and back. Your memory will live on through your children & grandchildren. Wish I could see that smile just one more time. Rest In Peace, Mama 🧡
