Almost a year since I last posted here.

I still remember the lights, the energy, the spirit of Papillon - the joy each of you brought into that space. Friends, family, laughter, last-minute gifts, shared moments. Papillon was never just a place; it was a community you helped create.

This Christmas is different. For the first time in five years, and because Papillon as you knew it now belongs to the past, I’m spending it in Africa, in a small village in Kenya my mother calls home.

2024 took my father. In 2025, I feared I might lose my mother too. So while losing Papillon has been painful, I’m deeply grateful that I can be here, close to family I’ve spent so many years away from, grounded in a place that feels like a quiet refuge.

This past year also revealed something beautiful: I found my tribe. The love, respect, and care we share still humbles me. You know who you are, thank you.

Before Papillon, I worked in the humanitarian sector. In Afghanistan, Sierra Leone and Tajikistan. It’s where I feel called again. It feels no accident that I’ve found myself standing this morning, at Kiwimbi, an organization in this village committed to transforming lives through learning. And where, finally I can write this message.

Meet PenDragon 🐾—Our Newest (and Coolest) Customer!

This summer, 12 Princeton businesses—including Orvana—welcomed custom dogoyle sculptures by the brilliant local sculptor Victor E. Bell. Each pup has its own personality, and ours? He’s PenDragon, and he’s rocking one of our favorite scarf patterns!

🗺️ To make your stroll easier (and artsier), local artist Susan Bell—yes, Victor’s mom!—designed a beautiful map so you can tour all 12 dogoyles across town. Pick your route, brave the heat, and discover the coolest corners of Princeton—from stylish boutiques and iced lattes to art-filled galleries.

🌬️ At Orvana, we’re keeping it extra cool—literally. Step inside for refreshing air, cotton dresses perfect for summer, and a peek at PenDragon in all his glory.

✨Bonus: PenDragon’s scarf is available for purchase, with proceeds supporting the local shelter. Art + fashion + a good cause? Yes, please.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗵𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗻: 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗛𝗲𝘆𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁

From the prequel in Metuchen to the big stage in New York—I’m thrilled to see Silvia Heyden’s breathtaking tapestries now on view at 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘆 in “Improvisational Nature: The Weavings and Drawings of Silvia Heyden”. It’s an honor to have played a small role in bringing her masterful work to a wider, deeply appreciative audience.

Endless thanks to the Heyden family for trusting this little shop to represent pieces that have inspired collectors from Switzerland, where Silvia was born in 1927, to Durham, North Carolina, where she wove some of her most powerful works.

These extraordinary works are now available to acquire—an incredible opportunity to live with the spirit and rhythm of a true modern master.

I warmly invite you to experience this remarkable exhibition in NYC this May.
