The Lord's Day is coming to a close, as usual, in prayer. Sunday is the "Easter" of each week; a day marked by Christ's Resurrection, and our union with it, beginning in Baptism. Every Sunday Mass plunges us anew into the grace of that first, unrepeatable sacrament. As St. Paul said, "Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!"

As you probably know, our celebration of Sunday begins with Evening Prayer on Saturday. But the Psalms are not "Saturday" prayers: they are truly our Sunday prayers, begun not sooner than 4 p.m. Saturday evening. Making this technically a Sunday prayer. (Calendar time just isn't equipped to celebrate the mysteries of the faith!)
Be that as it may, we begin the Lord's day here and now!

Today is the Memorial of Pope St. Pius X. He is best known for having lowered the age of First Communion from around 12 to the "age of reason," generally thought to be about 7. He was the Pope when our Founder was ordained, and so was a big influence on the Pauline Family--especially because he died on the day the Pauline Family was founded! So he is one of our unofficial patrons.
