Shameless plug for my husband's book:
Are you looking for a little mental getaway during the crazy holiday season? Check out this book, only $6.99 for the Kindle edition or $9.99 paperback.
First off, you need to know this is satire [sat·ire ˈsa-ˌtī(-ə)r. : a literary work holding up human vices and follies to ridicule or scorn].
After all the characters have been introduced, you'll develop your own mental picture of what they are like, and they will come to life in your imagination. I read the manuscript of this book last year, and I still think about the characters.
The main character, Jike, really really likes his thesaurus. Yes, his name is Jike, and the meaning behind his name is explained in the book. He is a really quirky dude, and his best friend is Carolyn. I love how the two of them play off each other.
Then there is Paul. Paul runs into some seriously weird situations as a code enforcement officer (yes, these things really did happen!).
Add to that a high school economics teacher, a librarian, and several other characters that cross paths.
I read the book again after Metten made some edits and enjoyed it even more the second time, since I already knew the characters. Yes, I'm slightly biased since my husband is the author, but even if he wasn't, I know I would like the book.
This is totally worth the $6.99 (or $9.99 if you're the kind that needs to hold an actual book) and your time. Check it out, and if you've read it, please leave a review on Amazon.
