Love the sound of the shofar... hate the smell? 👃🦴 Yeah, us too. Good news: we’ve got the fix. Fresh shofar, fresh start.
To make shofars less stinky👃, you can follow these steps:
1. Cleaning: Regularly clean the shofar with warm water and mild soap, inside and out, to remove any residue or odor-causing substances.
2. Soaking: Soak the shofar in a mixture of water and vinegar or lemon juice for a few hours to help neutralize any lingering odors.
3. Baking soda: Sprinkle baking soda inside the shofar and let it sit for a few hours to absorb odors. Rinse thoroughly afterward.
4. Air-drying: Allow the shofar to air-dry in a well-ventilated area after cleaning or soaking to prevent moisture buildup and mold, which can contribute to the smell.
5. Avoid strong scents: Keep the shofar away from strong-smelling substances to prevent it from absorbing unwanted odors.
Remember that shofars are made from animal horns, and some natural odor may persist. However, following these steps should help reduce any unpleasant smells.
If you want something a little more convenient, we also carry a neutralizing spray specifically for shofars called the “Shofar Odor Neutralizer Spray” by Peer Hastam®
