I was watching the news tonight when something unexpected happened, one of the largest projects I've completed to date appeared on my TV! Seeing my work featured during a local news segment was a first for me and an incredibly rewarding moment!

A few weeks ago, Weinbrenner Shoe Company contacted us to help commemorate a major milestone in their company's history. I had the privilege of laser engraving 500 wooden shoe lasts for a special event celebrating the opening of their beautiful new facility in Marshfield, Wisconsin.

Today, Weinbrenner Shoe Company hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark this exciting achievement, and it was amazing to see the engraved shoe lasts being used as part of the celebration.

Thank you to Weinbrenner Shoe Company for trusting me with this unique and meaningful project. It was an honor to contribute to such an important occasion for a company with a long history of craftsmanship and manufacturing excellence in Wisconsin.

TODAY WE CELEBRATE 4 YEARS IN BUSINESS!

This time of year always makes me reflect on how far we have come.

For those who are new here, Copper Mine Laser Design LLC was not even on our radar when this journey began.

I had always dreamed of getting into laser cutting and engraving, but I truly thought it would be a retirement hobby someday, not a full business. I shared that dream with a friend of mine who is also a business owner and who I met through my 9-to-5 job at the time. He simply said, “What are you waiting for? Buy the laser now!”

At the same time, my wife had started her own design business creating vector files for crafters. One night we sat down, talked about this crazy idea of starting a laser cutting and engraving business, and decided to take the leap.

My wife closed her business, and together we went all in on what is now Copper Mine Laser Design LLC.

On June 12, 2022, a moving truck pulled into our driveway and delivered the laser that started it all. I was still at my 9-to-5 job, so my wife, kids, and parents handled the delivery. I remember coming home excited, not knowing where this journey would take us, but ready to find out.

Over the last four years we have learned so much—engraving techniques, marketing, customer service, and everything that comes with running a small business.

The support from our family, friends, customers, followers, and local businesses has meant more than you will ever know.

Today our shop is busier than we ever imagined, and we have been blessed to work with so many amazing people.

Thank you for supporting our small business and allowing us to be part of your gifts, events, businesses, signage, awards, and special moments.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll gladly say it again, one of my favorite parts of running Copper Mine Laser Design LLC is getting the opportunity to meet and learn from other local businesses right here in Merrill, Wisconsin.

Recently I had the chance to work with Double State Farms and it was a fun project from start to finish! We teamed up to create their logo and create custom cattle tags featuring their branding. Safe to say those cattle are heading out to pasture with some serious new farm bling now!

When I started laser engraving, I honestly never expected I’d be learning this much about agriculture and livestock. Since opening the shop I’ve had the opportunity to create cattle tags, goat name tags, awards for the Lincoln County Fair, FFA awards, custom signs for duck enthusiasts, and so much more!

And I’ll be honest… I had no idea there were THAT many breeds of cows, goats, ducks, sheep, pigs, and chickens. I thought a cow was just… a cow. The farming community quickly proved me wrong!

To all of the farmers, ranchers, fair families, FFA members, and agriculture businesses that have trusted me with your projects, thank you for letting me step into your world a little bit. I’ve learned far more than just engraving techniques along the way.
