Weather changes are no joke for stringed instruments! ❄️🏜️ As relative humidity shifts, wood expands and contracts—which is why we see so many open seams this time of year.

When seam separations happen, our expert luthiers are here to help. Using traditional hide glue and precise clamping techniques, we safely close the gaps and protect your instrument's structural integrity.

Keep your environment's humidity consistent to prevent stress on the wood, or bring it by the shop for a quick checkup and some expert clamp-and-glue therapy! 😉🎻

Also, check out our blog on instrument care in the first comment below for tips to prevent damage to your instrument as we enter some big seasonal temperature changes.

As temperatures drop and seasons change, is your instrument acting up? 🎻

The transition from summer to fall brings big swings in temperature and indoor humidity—and wooden string instruments react to every shift.

Here are the most common autumn setup issues to watch for:

-Slipping or Stuck Pegs: Dry air shrinks pegs, causing them to slip; humidity swells them, causing them to stick.
-Leaning Bridge: Seasonal tuning slowly pulls the bridge top forward, leading to warping or collapse if uncorrected.
-Buzzing & Rattles: Temperature changes shift the wood, altering fingerboard clearance or loosening internal fittings.
-Sound Post Shifts: Humidity drops can loosen the sound post, dulling your tone and projection.

Check out our full guide to learn quick care tips and know when to bring your instrument in for a fall tune-up!
