Charlie Brown realizes Christmas has partly become a commercialized holiday. We are a consumeristic society where we agree with Charlie Brown's sister "all I want is my fair share." We think somebody owes us something... that we deserve something. Well, in fact we do deserve Romans 6:23a... "For the wages of sin is death." But this time of year should be a remembrance of Romans 6:23b... "the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." So in this Christmas season remember that giving is better than receiving! And the LORD spoke to me, saying, You have camped at this mountain long enough: go to the north." (Deuteronomy 2:2-3)...
This was the second time God had to rebuke Israel for staying too long in one place. Here they were camped adjacent to the region controlled by the descendants of Esau and thus kinsmen of the Israelites, but God told them to go on north toward Canaan.
