Dear Daddio,

This is our sixth Father’s Day. The first one was just after you had brought me home and told everyone I was your baby.

That was optimistic.

I didn’t realize how much work there was to be done.

Since then, I have supervised your painting, your gardening, your gallery work, your neighborhood walks, and your afternoon reading sessions.

Especially your afternoon reading sessions.

You fall asleep in the chair.

I make sure nothing happens while you’re sleeping.

It’s an important job.

I’ve also protected you from Amazon delivery drivers, inspected countless snacks, accompanied you on road trips, changed the temperature you keep the thermostat, and allowed you to appear in many of my photographs.

For reasons I still don’t fully understand, people seem to think I’m the one following you around.

The truth is, someone has to keep an eye on you.

Happy Father’s Day, Daddio.

Thank you for the treats.

Thank you for the adventures.

Thank you for always saving me a spot nearby.

Now wake up.

I think it’s time for a walk.

Love,

Mylo

Two new works from Tom Clifton.

Slumberous Descent and Space Between Breaths.

One settles into stillness. The other lingers in the pause between what was and what comes next.

Though very different in palette and texture, both invite a slower look. Enjoy revealing details, movement, and layers that emerge over time.

This needlepoint was originally intended to become a belt.

But after months of stitching, our client decided it deserved a wall instead.

Swipe through to see how we transformed it into a contemporary framed presentation.

We designed a narrow viewing window, wrapped in hand-selected silk, to highlight sections of the needlework and transform it into artwork.

To protect the piece, the needlework was hand-stitched in place rather than permanently adhered. If our client ever decides she’d rather wear it than display it, it can be removed without damage.

Custom framing isn’t always about adding more.

Sometimes it’s about revealing just enough.

A belt became artwork.

What would you have done? Worn it or framed it?

Sometimes creating a new painting looks very serious.

Sometimes it looks like this. 😄

For years, Tom has been layering plaster, carving texture, pressing found objects into the surface, and building color one transparent wash at a time. What begins as a field of white plaster slowly transforms over weeks into something entirely different.

The details in these photos are glimpses from two new paintings that will be released this Saturday.

One continues Tom’s long fascination with leaves and the patterns found in nature. The other grew from conversations about change, loss, resilience, and finding a new path forward.

And yes… plaster on the shirt is apparently part of the process.

“It’s here!”

This James Pratt painting arrived safely at its new home in Georgia, and not long afterward we received this photo.

If it looks familiar, it may be because this is the piece we asked for your feedback on when selecting the frame a couple of weeks ago. 😊

One of the joys of gallery life is watching a painting leave our walls and become part of someone’s everyday life.

We think this one found a wonderful home. What do you think? ❤️

Mylo asked us to issue the following statement:

“I did not sign up for this Memphis heat.

I am 💯Bernese Mountain Dog. My contract clearly states snow, fluffy sidewalks, and temperatures that make my dad wear leg warmers from a place he calls ‘the ’80s.’

I submit this photographic evidence from happier times.

Please keep the A/C working!”

Every morning begins with a simple turn of a key.

Before the conversations.

Before the laughter.

Before someone discovers the piece they didn’t know they were looking for.

There’s a quiet moment when every piece is simply waiting to be discovered.

Then we unlock the door and see what the day brings. Happy Saturday.

Tom’s face says it all.

There’s a special kind of excitement that comes from opening new arrivals from an artist. For a few moments, nobody knows exactly what they’re about to experience.

Then the cardboard comes off.

The wrapping is pulled back.

And suddenly, a painting that existed hundreds of miles away is standing in our gallery.

It’s one of our favorite parts of what we do.

Come unwrap it with us.

P.S. Come back tomorrow—we’ll show you how these pieces look once they’re out of the box and on the gallery walls. The transformation is worth the wait.

Before there was artwork, there was a vision.

When we begin a corporate art project, we’re not asking,

“What should we hang on the walls?”

We’re asking,

“How should people feel when they work here?”

This project began with an unfinished building and a vision for a space that would encourage curiosity, collaboration, and possibility.

The artwork wasn’t an afterthought.

It became part of the environment itself.

Because great workplaces aren’t simply decorated.

They’re designed to inspire.

Confession…

If someone asked us what inspired these paintings, “an old door” would not have made our Top 100 guesses. 🤣

That’s the magic of talking with artists. The finished painting is only part of the story. The inspiration is often completely unexpected.

Take a few seconds to hear Krista tell hers. Look for her technique in the paintings we embedded in the video. We think you’ll never look at an old door quite the same way again. 🎨
