The iconic Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most popular Silver coins in the world. This 1881 S Morgan Dollar was struck at the San Francisco Mint that is known for producing sharply struck coins. This high grade coin is offered in MS63🌟(star) condition and has an interesting and valuable provenance of belonging to the Mapes Casino hoard. The Mapes casino opened in 1947. It was the first skyscraper built in the Western United States since the start of World War II. The hotel was built to combine a hotel and casino, providing the prototype for modern hotel/casinos. For three decades it was the most elegant hotel in Reno with the most famous entertainers staying and performing there. Sinatra, Liberace, and Marilyn Monroe. The owner of the Casino, Charles Mapes Jr, used to hoard silver dollars in general, and cherry-pick San Francisco Mint and Carson City Mint coins for his own collection. After the casino ran into trouble and was pulled down on Super Bowl Sunday in 2008, bags of silver dollars belonging to Charles Mapes Jr. were made available to the public. The best of those coins has since made their way to NGC, who certified the hoard and attributed them to the Mapes Casino by putting them in holders with a distinctive solid black core. with the description
