Most people will never watch a Master Smith forge a blade in person.

Fewer than 130 men and women in the world hold the title of ABS Master Smith. To earn it, you have to forge a knife that can chop through a 2x4, shave hair off your arm, and bend 90 degrees without breaking — all from one piece of steel you made yourself.

On August 28-29, you can watch them do it.

It’s been a slow fall for knife making but I did finish this one up. 52100 steel blade, clamshell guard and wapiti handle. Guard and pommel are old wrought iron wagon wheel rims.

Started a new project tonight, cut this piece of elk horn that feels good in the hand and n Ed’s a decent sized blade to go with it. Thinking a drop point Bowie with a wraith iron clamshell guard…see how it turns out?

Made a shell holder for my .44 R***r Carbine, got it at and I love this gun. Until I got this I didn’t know these were made before the 10/22.

Doing some work on my 50 lb little giant. Had a couple issues on it that were pointed out to me at the Medora Hammer-In last week. Tore the front end apart, did some welding, adjusting and cleaning…hopefully have it all@back together and making steel this weekend.

What a weekend. The first Medora Hammer-In was full of hard work, learning, camaraderie, and a lot of laughs. Guys came together to share skills, swap stories, and knowledge to build some incredible knives.

This morning we wrapped it up the best way possible—with prayer and gratitude. A solid reminder that it’s not just about the steel, it’s about the forging community. 🔨🔥

🔥 Day 2 at the Medora Hammer-In has been unforgettable!
Not only did we have amazing presentations, but young men had the chance to step up to the forge and learn side-by-side with some of the best knife makers in the world.

We were honored to host two past winners of the Forged in Fire competition, who are sharing their craft, passion, and expertise. Watching the next generation learn from world-class makers is nothing short of inspiring.

This is what the Hammer-In is all about—community, tradition, and passing down the fire. 🔨✨
