A whole community of cast iron purists is not going to like this...

A friend of mine recently lost his dad. Upon finding an old axe head amongst his father's things, he reached out to me knowing that restoration and preservation is a side hustle of mine. The axe head was broken, so the best thing in my mine was to clean it up for a display piece on a bookshelf or something. He really liked it and asked me: "How much?" I absolutely refused to charge him and told him it was my honor to provide him a piece to remember his dad by.

My friend instead asked me if I needed any cast iron, as his dad was a bit of a cast iron hoarder. Well, I will NEVER turn down cast iron!

He gave me an AMAZING, rare skillet from a company called Wapak Hollow Ware. I had never heard of Wapak, but as best as my friend could determine, this skillet was made between 1903 and 1910! Most purists and cast-iron collectors would consider this a "display and admire" piece. I, however, feel it only fitting to resurrect it and put it to work!

This is a friend of mine. Her father passed away and this knife was among his belongings. She asked me if I could clean it up so she could put it in a shadow box or something for her brother.
I completely disassembled the knife to give it a thorough cleaning, and decided to go ahead and take care of setting up the display too.

I had the pleasure of reconditioning a few tools for a local husband and wife.
The Cant Hook, Pickaroon, and Adze were heirloom's from the wife's father. He worked in the timber local timber industry pre-WW2.
The Maul is a non vintage Collins and just needed a quick tune up for firewood season.

Here is a good kindling buster! 3-1/2lb. Michigan pattern on a 19 inch Miner's handle. A fat convex grind for really separating the wood.

Fall is around the corner. A nice vintage hatchet for busting up kindling is a good thing to have in the wood box.

$25 for this classic is a great deal. I have other vintage, good quality axes ready for firewood season too.
